Hi all,
I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the priny status of teh Vertigo Tarot is? I know there is one edition that is OOP and limited edition of 5000, but I could've sworn there was a second edition, of a more easily gettable version.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Blessings,
Kiama

The second edition sold out too, it was mostly offered at comic book stores, not on the regular tarot market through bookstores. I think the major difference between them was the card stock, it was a little thicker? Collectors want the first edition, of course, but both do come up on eBay all the time. Trouble is, they never sell for under $50.
Here, I located some comic suppliers info on the two decks. The first edition came out April 1995, second was released Aug. 8, 2000. Maybe if enough people bother Vertigo Comics, they'll print a third edition?

Vertigo Tarot Deck Set (New Edition)
This isn't set to hit stores until Aug. 8 but the way the first set sold out, you may want to check with your local comic book retailer to put one on order.
Deal yourself a look at your future with this reissue of the popular classic Vertigo Tarot Deck Set from DC. This edition features all the material from the original Tarot set, including 78 glossy laminated cards (thicker than the previous version) featuring Vertigo characters painted by Dave McKean.
This set is reformatted to 2.58" x 4.75" size to conform to standard Tarot decks. Plus, a 128-page 4.75" x 7" softcover Tarot Book (with a new cover by McKean) written by Tarot expert Rachel Pollack. It's also packaged in a new four-color window box. SRP: $29.95

First edition
Vertigo Tarot Cards Box Set. By Dave McKean and Rachel Pollack.
Published by Vertigo Comics.
An awe inspiring tarot set illustrated by McKean. The box-set contained a complete deck of fully illustrated cards featuring the characters from the Vertigo universe and a guide book of their meanings written by Rachel Pollack. Both of these set into a beautifully printed box with the covers blending into the design.
The first print was a very limited run made to pre-orders and is now very hard to get. It is going for some very high prices on Ebay. But stop the panick - it has been re-printed.
Second Printing
Vertigo Tarot Cards. By Dave McKean and Rachel Pollack. Published by Vertigo Comics.
Still an awe inspiring tarot set illustrated by McKean. This second edition is printed in a traditional tarot card size and display box. It has a new cover illustration on the book seen through the front of the box. The new package and size of the cards also means it is sold at a good price too.

Comic book stores sometimes get these in (both 1st and 2nd edition) and sell them at a better price than you can get online. And comic stores will sometimes take requests when you're looking for something. If you have friends who are into comics you might have them keep an eye out.
I still kick myself about passing up this deck and the Particle tarot as well. I was still collecting comics when both of them came out. They came out before I started collecting decks, and the price at the time seemed a bit steep to me. Argh.
