Wouldn't a Dr. Suess deck be great? And from the following quote, I think he would have been great with at giving tarot readings. Oh, a chance missed . . .
You can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room." - Theodor Geisel (“Dr Seuss”)

Audrey Geisel might be open to that.... especially if she can make some money on it. She's already sold out to Hollywood against the good doctor's wishes (he said he never wanted his works interpreted by Hollywood again, after the fiasco of The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T).
Enough of my griping, though -- a Seuss tarot would be excellent! :D

A star-bellied sneech could be The Star. :D
The Lorax could be The Hierophant...
What about The Fool?

The Cat in the Hat could be either the fool or the magician.

I heard an interview of Philip Nel, Professor of English who has just published "Dr. Seuss: American Icon"--quite an interesting overview of the books, some of the political background to stories, and Seuss' creative methods.
He was an amazing imaginative genius and stimulated reading for millions of children.

Cat in the Hat is definitely the Magician...
I think the good doctor himself should be the Fool.
The Grinch as The Devil??? })

I love you guys! This is fabulous!
I see the Lovers as the two characters in the story about the pants with no one inside them (can't remember what it's called, think it's in the Sneetches book-- it scared me as child!). The cute creature is stalked by the pants until the pants cry (they're lonely with no one inside them!), then they become the best of friends -- talk about a union of opposites!
Yertle the Turtle as the Emperor?
What about Horton?

Horton can be the Hierophant!

I kind of like the Lorax as Hierophant. Horton is unwavering in his belief, but too childlike. On the other hand, he'd probably work in reversal too...
This is fun. I'd love an Edward Gorey tarot, too. Although the individual characters lack the depth of Seuss, there would be no lack of images! There are some fine B&W decks (Victoria Regina, Ship of Fools, Light and Shadow), so Gorey would be in good company.
Most Seuss characters -- certainly the most endearing -- seem to be male (which is another story...) so what about the cards traditionally portayed by female figures like the Empress or Justice?
Any thoughts on the Minors?

No ideas on the Minors, but how about Cindy Lou Who as the child on The Sun?

And Oobleck would be the Tower.
For the High Priestess, how about the unseen mother in Cat in the Hat, I seem to recall you only saw her legs... the rest was left mysterious.
And one of the suits (Cups?) would have to be One fish two fish, red fish blue fish. Geez... creepy how easy this is...

I like Cindy Lou Who, but what about "they run for fun in the hot, hot sun"? One Fish, Two Fish is my favorite. I can't believe I've forgotten so much, but I like the thing the children found "in the park, in the dark" for the Moon. Emperor = Pop! Hop on him!

How about "do not hop on pop" for the 10 of Pentacles?
How about Bartholomew Cubbins for Page of Wands? With his 500 Hats -- creativity running out of control?
