Greetings, Tarot-kindred....
I owned the deck set 'The Star That Never Walks Around' a long time ago, when I was an avid collector.
I read with it right out of the box and rather enjoyed the deck for some time.
I moved on to other reading decks and put it back in its box, happy with my investment...but, out-of-sight/out-of-mind, for the most part.
I was more into amassing numerous decks then, and good reading decks were not my priority yet.
So, I eventually traded the deck away, sure that I could replace it if I ever wanted to, and I did.
I bought the deck that following summer, and read with it almost exclusively for the rest of the year.
In the New Year of 2003, I gifted it to a friend who fell in LOVE with it; I had several new decks from Christmas, so I wasn't resistant to sharing this one, but....
Missing it again, I replaced the set a few months later!
CRAZY, I know....*sigh*
But this time, I didn't use the set, and as I decided to sell off my entire collection, I wasn't sure if this one was going in the lot for sale or if I wanted to keep it.
I finally decided to hold on to the STNWA and a few other decks for a while, and then it came time for me to move.
But somewhere along the way, I lost those few decks in the move, the STNWA included.
I looked everywhere, including the entire route we took from apartment to house and back....nothing.
Well, I missed the deck AGAIN, so I ordered another set a coupla months ago.
It took a while to get to me, but I figured it was worth it, I had such good memories of this deck.
But my new 'Star...' was defective!
This deck turned out to have a seriously bent King of Pentacles...not the kind of 'bent' earned from happy, healthy usage, but the kind of wrinkly, bumpy BENT you can't ignore.
However, I was going to overlook it, until I found the Justice card.
*sigh*
It was rather unsightly, all cut funny and laminated off-kilter.
I surrendered to the Signs From Above at that point and returned the set.
I waited a couple of weeks for my new order to come in, but nothing was showing up, so I started to nag my store (they were frustrated with me about it).
Everything from weather problems to production glitches seemed to be holding up the order....
I finally cancelled my order today. :(
I've decided that the Signs are too evident--I'm not supposed to have this deck.
My tarot providers at my favorite tarot-temple (bookstore) made up for the disappointment by finding for me an amazing deal on the 'PoMo Tarot,' as well as the 'Native American Tarot.'
So I still have new decks to drool over--I'm gonna make it!
I figure there are higher forces at work here, trying to tell me something.
Like, "Let it go, Tauni...Let it go."
*sigh*
Thank you for sharing my whine with me....
;)

The way I see it, whatever you have done in the past, its always come back to you. I suspect the same will happen this time.

Well you know what they say... "When you love something, let it go..."
Wait and see what happens :) Maybe there's a different reason you repel this deck...perhaps it has a higher purpose in your life...just not yet.

Hi Tauni, I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but my opinion (fwiw) is that the Native American Tarot is a much more well-done effort, both conceptually and artistically, than STNWA. Hopefully you're getting the deck/book set, if not, you'll want to go ahead and get the book, it's fascinating and one of the best deck-accompanying books ever written.

You're playing a very interesting game with this deck, something like what people play with each other--alternating lust and rejection.
Don't know what it means, but the cycles can make you crazy . . .

Hi Tauni,
From what you've been telling us, this deck seems to have a way of making it back to you so more than likely, it will find its way back again. Whenever I have trouble finding a deck I really want, I send my desire out to the Universe and I end up getting the deck either from a friend or in some unusual way. Hasn't failed yet but sometimes it takes awhile to get to me. :-)
Joy to you,
Maralee

Tauni, you probably already know this but they have it at Tarot Garden and Amazon.
What really facinates me is why you got rid of your whole tarot collection?
But I agree, if it's ment to be yours it will find it's way back to you.

Lee,
Yes, it makes me feel better!
I think I agree with you--I'm really liking the NA Tarot.
After I get to know the deck a little more (especially with my current fickle behavior), I'll make a concerted effort to acquire the book....
Thanks for the information!

Lady Eclipse,
You were so right!

Reading back to this post made me all goose-bumpily....

Tauni! That is great! I too have this deck. I don't use it all that much, but I do love it. I also think the drawings done by Sandra herself make it so much more special to me. Enjoy my dear!
Oh, BTW, if anyone has this deck and is missing either the Empress or Judgement, I have an extra of each and if you have an extra Wheel of Fortune, I lost mine :(
Take care,
Mimi
