I'm so smitten with my new HR... :) I never thought I'd like it and now I love it!! It's just the perfect size as well!
I don't think it is too positive or sugary, I've been getting very blunt readings and who can say that for example ten of swords would be a smiley card in this deck?
The LWB is reasonably good but I would like to find a book as well to accompany this deck. It would be interesting to read stuff about the images etc.
I'm also considering the mini HR (is it only sold as the Tarot To Go-pack?) but then again, do I really need another HR when this one is so portable too?!
What kind of experiences do you have with the HR?

Actually there is a book that accompanies this deck, but I guess it is not sold separately. Check it out at Amazons', and US games.
This deck was one of the first decks I received by mail and I didn't realize it was not standard size, until much later.
I hope you will enjoy reading with it.
It is the sort of deck that you come to like the more you use and read with it.
A good amount of work had been put into it, and it shows.

I agree. And the HR Devil looks quite sinister.
I too find that the HR provides very blunt readings. It is straight to the point, in a very matter of fact way. I have found it to be extremely useful in my readings, although I do not use it as much now as I did in the past.
I can always remember sat with my then partner, and I asked him to pull a card to represent our relationship together. He pulled the Three of Swords, and BOY IS THAT A JUICY HEART! Ugh!!!
Anyway, it was a very precise depiction of our relationship. Awful. Ha!

When I was working with the Hanson Roberts, some of the readings I got with it were very blunt and to the point - I think of the deck now like an iron fist inside a velvet glove. It might look like a sugary sweet deck but the readings can pack a punch and my opinion of it changed lol :) (For the better) - It is a nice size too.
Edited to add:-
Just read Centaur's post - 'blunt and to the point' didn't copy from you honest lol :D

Wow. I have had the same experience with this deck. It is so pretty and "easy" to look at, yet tells it like it is without sugar coating it. What a powerful little deck.

No kidding. The first time I used it, I was surprised. But I've used it to give some straight-up readings to some people who really needed to get it that way.

Just how small is the mini cards of this "Tarot to Go"? I love the regular Hanson-Roberts deck. It is one of my favorites! Is the book any good?

I've recently got the Tarot to Go kit from a dear friend. The cards are slightly larger than my pocket RWS. I really like this deck, it's been giving me some very good readings. :)

The Hanson-Roberts was my first ever deck, and it influences my reading of all other tarot decks.
I've never understood why people see it as 'sugary'. I see it as 'fairytale' - with all the darkness that is in the best fairytales. It gives clear readings that speak straight to my feelings - like a Rider-Waite-Smith deck for the heart.
I am very tempted by Tarot to Go, because I like small decks, but I really don't need it. My HR fits into a small tobacco tin with pictures from Alice in Wonderland on it, so it can be safely carried around. I'm not sure what Tarot to Go would fit in :)

I measured mine for you .
They are 2" x 31/4"
The book is cute.
Each card is given a page.
There is a full color picture of each card and upright and reverse meanings.
A celtic cross spread and info on how to read it.
Also a nice 7 card horseshoe spread.
Very nice set, I keep this one along with a pocket RWS in my purse.

A well-drawn and softly-coloured deck (even if it features oddly melon-headed people.) I like the way the Rods are drawn, with the blossom at the tops, and that they're named Rods instead of Wands. As for the sugar content, Temperance is particularly delicate and lovely, while the Devil card is certainly not one for the kids...

That's a great way to put it. One of the first readings I ever received was done with this deck -- I was nervous, but the cards were so lovely and inviting that they didn't frighten me; and the reading was right on.
