Great opening price. I wonder how high it'll go up. Most sell for around $125.

If anyone is looking for Greewood they might want to check with Tarot Garden. I recently sold them my copy.

Why is the Greenwood so sought-after? I know it's oop, but other than that?

I guess it's because it's not only OOP, it's also very hard to come by. People like their decks so much that they won't let go of them :)
It's a similar case with the Vertigo. There were two printings, both limited editions, and they were snapped up by fans of Vertigo/Dave McKean/Tarot/all of the above. Those that were unwanted got traded or resold, and now just about everyone who owns one isn't likely to give it up easily.

The Greenwood is more of a shamanic type oracle, there's not many decks out there that are even close.

People may wish to check out Lo Scarabeo's deck, the Tarot of the Origins.

LOL Tarot of the Origins is like being smashed with a big rock while Greenwood is like sifting through sand. VERY different experiences! But the Origins is really good for basic, down to the bone relationship readings. Man!

Yeah, I keep Tarot of the Origins for those absolutely rock-bottom who-am-I-where-am-I-going moments. It's very deep. I love the artwork though some of it's not for the faint-hearted. You just couldn't ask it a trivial question, and even if you do (as I did in some of my early attempts) you realise it's giving you another answer entirely - usually something to do with spiritual quests, life purposes etc.
From scans the Greenwood deck looks gorgeous, yearn, yearn, yearn. I have a dream of going into some little quirky shop in the west of Ireland (where they have lots of little quirky shops) and finding it sitting waiting for me in a dusty corner. Ah dreams... where would we be without them.

I would love a copy of the Greenwood tarot but we're (sadly ;) ) not very well off so I'm gonna have to wait until I'm a hugely successful reflexologist ;)
My time will come :D

One Greenwood went for $200 before Xmas and just after that for $180.
It's really a mystery to me why this deck (not any limited edition or anything), even hard to find as it is, could get so expensive. The fact is that it will probably never be republished (i read somewhere that the author was not really in good terms with the publisher) but still...
I got a similar experience the other day. I am trying to find a Osho Zen tarot in french (i should have bought it on sales when it was available!) and it is really hard to find (not the kind of ebay "hard to find" sales argument ;-) the REAL hard to find). I was able to trace one in Belgium but it was offline inventory. So i wrote and guess what... they sell it for 131,00 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bloody deck goes for 25 euros on amazon (well, the english version that it!) !!!!!!!!!! I asked them "are you sure you wrote the correct price?" and they wrote back "it's for ppl who REALLY want it". Sure... who really want it, have lots of money and cannot a word of english, i'd say...
Oh, well...

Geesh, that is INSANE, Kissa!!!
It always amazes me how GREEDY people can get!
Like when the Voyager went out of stock on amazon and the used copies were selling for around $75-100!!! (Of course, once the new ones came back in for $35, the prices miraculously dropped! ;) ) Same with the Merryday deck, which sells for a ridiculous amount on amazon, yet can be purchased directly from the publisher for $25....
I am a fan of the Greenwood, I have been longing to find one for a "reasonable" price but....IMO, paying close to $200 for a used copy of this deck is just not acceptable...or affordable!
It really kinda bothers me knowing that I will probably never be able to afford or justify paying the amount of money necessary to get one....and because it is so popular/sought after, I really wish that someone would bite the bullet and find a way to republish it....
