Well, I finally bought the Thoth tarot (small lavendar box with 3 magus) and won a Marseille's (Fournier) on Ebay for $9.99.
The Thoth is beautiful. I had only ever seen the green one in person and love the size and coloring of the small one. It has the grey borders and the 3 Magus. Now I want to buy DuQuette's book and Mirror of the Soul. I will probably join the Thoth study group too. All I have to say is WOW, this is a gorgeous deck!!!
I just won the Marseille's Fournier yesterday on Ebay. I'm hoping to have it by next week. I have seen the Marseille's Fournier in person and it is a very beautiful deck. This will be my first Marseille. I am looking forward to learning how to read with it and will use the history forum of Aeclectic as a valuable resource while studying this deck.
Now it feels like my collection of decks is well rounded. I have a Universal Waite, Thoth and Marseille which are the 3 major types of tarot decks. Plus I have a lot more:)
I was just looking at the top ten deck list for 2003 the other day and I noticed the only one I don't have on it is the Morgan-Greer. Hmmmm........LOL.

Congratulations on the Fournier. That was my first Marseilles, too. It's a beauty.
There's supposed to be a new edition of the Thoth out, with the colors much better than in past editions, I seem to remember a thread on it. I may just have to break down and acquire it, despite my distaste for Aleister Crowley.

i'm in the same boat, i have a RW and a Thoth, now all i need is a marseille's type deck to go with it. However, i dont really like the lack of symbols on a marseille's deck, so i'm looking for one with nice pretty pictures, but im having a problem findin even one of them lol.
There is a need to have a collection of your favourites and the classics - or the need to just buy tarot decks, either one!
Blessings

Just had to say that I wasn't interested in the Morgan Greer a year ago, then got it after Christmas and now I use it regularly along with my Osho Zen for my own readings. Love the borderless cards and the deep richness of the darker colors.
There are other decks that got stored in a drawer, not this one.

The Fournier was my first Tarotdeck:-)
I still got it too!
And even though I used it so much it is in pristine condition. Says a lot both about how careful i was with the cards as a beginner (i haven't used it in 10 years or so) and how well made it is
The Thoth is a wonderful deck too.

Hi Momof3girls,
The Morgan Greer is my main reading deck and if you like the online scans you won't be disappointed when you have the deck in your hands. It makes a nice change from Rider Waite artwork and reads better. There is extra symbolism on the cards that had me reaching for a symbol dictionary in the first few weeks of having this deck, I'd never done it with the Rider Waite because most of the symbolism is very apparent.
But saying that the Thoth and the Fournier are both very pretty decks too. :)

Hi Momof3girls!
I recently bought the Thoth as well and also think it is a wonderful deck! I have the large one in the green box and just love looking at the cards - the artwork, the symbols - just so much to see and figure out. I have a book on order though as I think I am going to need it with this deck - but that will be all part of the learning experience!
See you around the Thoth threads then ;)

When my Quest arrived in the mail this past Friday, it completed the top 10 from 2003 for my collection. Guess I need to start working on filling the gaps from 2002, hehe.
I agree about the Morgan-Greer. Of the RWS decks that are based on original drawings (differentiating from the Golden and the Prague), it is a favorite of mine, along with the Robin Wood. I enjoy the lack of borders and the vibrant colors. Plus a couple of the RWS cards which annoy me do not bother me as much on the MG.

Well, I found a cheap copy of Morgan Greer on Ebay and my husband bought it for me. You guys are a bad influence...hehehe! I love the fact that this deck doesn't have borders.

Imagemaker, I also got the Symbolon. All quite different personalities but incredible decks!
P.S. Thanks for the reading with the Int. Icon, it was a key factor in knowing I needed it now. It not only is lovely but reads terrific!
