Does anyone have the new Los Scarbeo Tarot of the Druids? What do you think about it? I have seen quite a bit of discussion on the new Pagan tarot by them but not alot on this one.

Thanks

I really wanted to like this deck. So much that I didn't look carefully at available scans.

The artwork is too cartoony/cutesy for my taste. One of the artists is Antonio Lupatelli (of Tarot of Gnomes and Fairy Tarots fame). _One_ deck in this style is quite enough, IMHO.

The Minors are slightly less cutesy, and are actually quite readable. The Courts are also pretty well done.

I was hoping for a serious Druid-inspired deck, in the more realistic style of the Pagan Tarot, which I love! Oh well...

As always, YMMV.

We just had a thread on this deck.

Seriously disappointing deck. Especially in light of the really superb decks LS has put out (Animal Lords, the Fey) -- I actually prefer the lupatelli majors to the other artists minors. But the huge rock border doesn' t do his paintings any good, and the colours are all greenish, muted and muddied in comparison the bright 22 majors of the original art deck.

I received this deck for some reason although I had ordered The Pagan Tarot. It is something I would not have even considered buying on my own. Just not my style. I have to agree with Asher, it was just too, too.

I'm very much looking forward to the Druid Craft Tarot, due out in October. It has a much better feel to me than the Lo Scarabeo Druid Tarot. You can find samples here:

Between this and the Gilded, I think my birthday gifts will be used up for this year.

Bacchus thanks for sharing that site.
What a beautiful deck.
The colors are vibrant and intense.
Tempra and egg yolk is an extraordinary medium.
A lot of work but there is nothing else like it for beautiful results.

That is a very beautiful deck (druidcraft), I hadn't heard anything about it before. For Lo Scarabeo decks the Celtic Tarots might be more appealing to people than the druid deck.

Wow, this is beautiful! I particularly like the Lovers Card.

The LWB is almost identical in the majors to the Celtici majors by Gaudanzi. I use the LWB as more information in a spread when I use the Celtici...I may at some point use it in a two-deck reading with the Fairy Tarot...I'm waiting for the book-deck set of the Lupatelli Fairy Tarot to come out--I think in June 2004.

Don't know if this helps...

Didn't click with me, either, I'm afraid. Traded it away after looking through it once, for some reason I couldn't get over The Empress in particular. I usually don't have a problem with cutesy style (I own a Chobits tarot, for crying out loud, even though it's perfectly unreadable and nothing but cute), but this really didn't work for me, maybe because it reminded me of the Asterix comics a lot.
