Now that Karen's and Alex's kitties are making their way all over the world, I was hoping to create some initial discussion on this beautiful deck (I am sure it will be not long before some brave soul opens up a Study Group).
I was discussing the idea of RWS-like decks in another thread (the Gilded) and mentioned that I do not mind RWS-themed decks because they give me some familiarity, but I also like subtle (or not-so-subtle) differences in order to breed new ideas.
The card which comes to mind immediately is the Wheel of Fortune. It is soooooooo nice to see a card, based on RWS, which doesn't revert to the traditional theme of just a Wheel.
I love the idea of the rich cat looking in the mirror and seeing its reflection of itself as a pauper. A reminder that nothing is permanent - what is here today may be gone tomorrow or vice versa. And the use of a clock as the Wheel to further enhance that theory.
It may not be THE most beautiful card in the deck, but it is one of the most thought-provoking.

Oh I am so with you, Dan!
The Wheel Of Fortune card surprised and delighted me the moment I saw it!
It is my favorite card in the deck...and probably my favorite Wheel card in any deck!
I really loved the fact that these cards evoke some of the familiar symbolism of the RWS...and yet take it to a new level.
I knew immediately what each card was, even without looking at the title, and yet they live in a world of symbolism that is quite unique and all thier own!
I liked the Juudgement card for that reason...and I really loved the Queen of Wands, and her guardian black familiar taking on the role as bodyguard!
And I think the symbols in the 3 of wands are absolutely elegant...and the fabulous theatre feeling behind the 3 of pentacles gave me new insights as well!
I could gush for hours about my furry bohemian friends! :D

I am wondering whether to get the kit (deck and book) or just the deck. Is the book necessary for this deck? My inclination is towards just getting the deck, but I love the Tarot of Prague book so I don't want to miss out if the BBC book is great too.
Anyone have the book, any thoughts on it?

I would recommend the book. The book has given me a whole new take on many of the cards. It really has some information that makes me say, I've never thought of it that way...but that's right! It gives regular and reversed meanings and also give a cat's interpretation of each card. It's also interesting to find out what was used in each card.
