Do any of you ever get a deck, which afterwards, isn't really as great as you once thought it would be, but when you do readings they are incredibly accurate? This happened to me with the Medieval Scapini. The artwork and colours did not completely grab me, as much as I thought they would, and the cards are large, so with small hands, it is a hard deck to deal with, for me. However, my readings are freakishly accurate with it, more so than many of my other decks. I can't decide whether to pass this deck on, or just use it on occasion. I feel cruel departing with a deck that reads so well, for me, but I really don't like handling it!

Have you tried different ways of shuffling? I hold large cards across their middles rather than from end to end, and kind of riffle them together. This works quite well. I think it would be sad to give up a deck that gives you such accurate readings.
Are there other things you don't like about the deck?
Umbrae suggests pre-aging cards by holding them against the side of the table, and then kind of dragging them over the edge, bending them a bit in the process. Do this vertically, horizontally, diagonally, and on both sides of the cards. It really does make the deck feel better.
If the colors still bother you, that is something you really can't change, I guess. But I hope you will find a way to use the deck, as the images must speak strongly to you or you wouldn't get such good readings.
Good luck.

I have been shuffling them that way, yet the length of them still makes it hard. But, you are right. I am not sure what isn't clicking-I guess the art work, but the accuracy of the reading is just too freaky to let the deck go! This happens with the Sacred Rose Deck, too. I like that deck, and the smaller size, though most people don't like it. But it is the one I learned to read on, after graduation from the RW deck, and very accurate. Now, if I could only get my Bruegel to work well for me!

Yes! When the LS Pagan Tarot came out, I couldn't wait to get it. Now that I have it, I kind of like it but still I'm not too thrilled with it. However, it gives me the most accurate and often brutally honest readings. I don't know why, but that's been my experience. Also, they are often literal. For example, once I spent a terrible night without any sleep. The next day I draw a single card for that night and I got the 9 of Swords where the protagonist is sitting on the edge of her bed, her head buried in her hands and the nine swords were pointed to her. Looking at this card was like looking in a mirror.
Just one example. But I wouldn't give it away. Sometimes it's good to hear the harsh truth.

Well, I can't say I "prefer" one deck to another. I don't have many in my collection to begin with so maybe that's why. I DO have a problem with my Daughters of the Moon deck and being able to relate it to a reading with a male querant. But, I still like the deck. Although RedMaple would be happy to know that in the Blooming circle's Mother thread, I COULD actually see myself using this deck for a man with this type of issue.
As I always say..."You learn as you go and as you go you grow"

very interesting question...
i am not very fond of the cute hanson roberts deck and for a long time i even refused buying it at all, despite the good critics i could read. finally i gave up and this deck gives me really good, accurate readings. some decks give me just as good readings but it takes me much more work to get to the point where i believe i have understood the message.
quite the same happened to me at the beginning of my tarot studies: i didn't like robin wood's deck, finally got myself to buy it and i am glad i did. the best beginner's deck ever, fantastic minors.
