Hi,
I recently got this deck on a spur of the moment decision, after seeing it for sale in a pet shop (seemed appropriate being animals and all). Anyway i looked on this site using the search function for any information about it etc, and couldn't find anything. Has anyone else got this deck? What do you think of it? Is it good for reading? If anyone knows of any threads could you point me in the right direction!
Lots of love
fluffy
ps. I have opened it and looked halfway through it and really like it so far.

Dear Fluffy (cute name for an animal lover, LOL) I began a thread on this deck when the deck first came out, and we had a nice discussion about it.

Here is another thread Tarot of the Animal Lords begun by Ruby Slippers.

I had great fun doing Christmas readings with this deck on "what shall I ask Santa for?" It's fun, I use the image only, not book meanings, and as first used by Firemaiden in a spoof reading, the elephant in the blue nightgown (Empress) always inspires me to loony grins.

Thanks for your links Firemaiden i have read them and they were very helpful. Also i think i will take a look at the link to the animal shamanism site that was posted. I have not done a reading with them yet, but i will!

I've got it too. When I tried using it with standard meanings (book meanings) it didn't read very well, but once I went to the images only it read like a dream. Great for pet readings, and very 'literal' at least for me.
Your deck didn't have a strong smell to it did it? When I first took the wrapper off mine there was a nail polish smell on all the cards that was horrible, but it went away after a week of being aired out. I think it was the coating on the surface of the cards.

I like this one a lot -- more than most animal decks.
Mine had the dreadful smell too -- I had to fan the cards and put them in the window for a few days. After that, they were fine.

I just got my deck today, and yes, it has the dreadful smell. I'll have to air it out. But the images are a delight! I can't wait to read with it. Thank you, Imagemaker, for showing me your deck!

I was going to ask you about that. LOL It is tempting, is it not?

Pooh, yes it does smell very nail varnishy, but i still love it. I have to agree with what most people have put above that you should look mainly at the pictures and ignore the book. I still haven't done a reading with it yet, i might do my first reading for Buster - my dog. ( i made a little bag for it today and cut out and stitched felt animals onto it (elephant, monkey & rabbit), it looks really nice.

That sounds really nice. You're inspiring me to do the same. It does seem like it needs something special.

To show how it reads for pets by just use of the images--I did a 2 card reading for one of our cats who's been extra lovey dovey lately, craving affection from us when he's usually not anywhere near this clingy. I just shuffled with the thought of drawing 2 cards to describe what's going on with him at the moment.
Justice & 9 of Wands. And the King of Swords flipped out during shuffling, so I put that down with the other two.
The Justice & King of Swords are nearly identical--both have the figures holding the weighing balance scales in their right hand and a sword in their left hand, both have flying creatures heading off to the top left, both have a tree curving up on the right in exactly the same place to frame the figures, both seem to have their movement stopped, one foot in front of the other but no further movement either possible or being made (the owl is on a cliff, the water buffalo is on a stump not moving).
They seem to indicate an unequal giving our our attention to the other cats, he's feeling that he's not getting his fair share, and the 9 of Wands that's sandwiched between these two cards shows a poor cat (lynx) outside the stockade all alone, he's 'out in the cold' and feeling left out from the homey life. He's partly behind a tree (can't see the forest for the trees?) and even though the card probablys hows him on guard duty, that's not the feeling I got for this reading. This card has a sword too, everyone has a sword (paws full of claws so to speak).
So I'm taking it as: Merlin's actions with us in the past few days are quite likely based on feeling neglected and he needs to have more attention given to him to feel better about things.

Hudsongray,
What a fantastic reading for your cat. I am going to definitely make sure that the first reading i do with my animal lords is a reading for my fat pooch! I am still just at the looking through and admiring stage at the moment, getting a feel for them so to speak, but everytime i look at a card i see something new in it!.
Will let you know how my dog reading goes.
Love
