My mum ( Tarotlova ) has a bit of a collection of Oracle Decks. She has The Faeries Oracle and The Animal Oracle and a bit more i think. But anyway for fun i tried to use one once and it DID not make any sense at all. I tried to use one of my spreads that i made up but i couldn't really make it out. Have you got any advice for me? Should i just keep practicing on Titanias and others or should i try them?

Hi Uni,
A year ago, I would have told you to stick with the Tarot, but ...
I have found that Oracle decks work just fine as long as you are open to them, and don't try to interpret them using the same "rules" you learn for a Tarot deck. It's a whole different system ... as different as runes v. geomancy. Yeah, yeah, it's all one. But it's all different variations and perceptions of the one.
So, keep playing with the Tarot and play with the oracle decks, too.
One suggestion, if you are interested. Learn the oracle cards the very same way some folks start out learning the Tarot. Start a journal for your oracle decks - pull a single card every day, write down your own impressions of the card in the morning; then at the end of the day, write down any significant happenings, and note those on the same journal page. Try not to superimpose your Tarot knowledge on the oracle cards. Let them speak for themselves ... slowly. After you play with them for a while, they may tell you what kind of spread they want you to use.
Here's to not playing by the rules!
