The Shining Tribe: Convince me to keep it!

I'm thinking about trading my Shining Tribe Set. I had wanted it for so long and it is not really calling me. I just don't find it compelling, and it is a bit cryptic. I love symbolism, am trained as a real symbolist in fact, but it is not very inviting. I admit to not having worked extensively with the deck, just done a handful of readings. So, what do you do with your Shining Tribe? How do you work with it? If you have any fun exercises you think might help with it, please post them. I want a reason to keep the deck, but right now, it is not looking good.... And, I have a feeling like the Rock Art deck that I want is not coming until the Shining Tribe moves out!!! Call me suspicious, but, it is a feeling. ;)

I don't have the shining tribe tarot, but I had a similar experience with the Wild Spirit Tarot. When I first got it, the images just weren't resonating with me. I didn't use it for awhile, and when I came back to it, something had changed. It's one of my favorite decks now. Right before I put it away, I looked at each card. Maybe between then and when I took them back out I had turned the images around in my mind and got used to them. I have gotten some of the modt incredible readings from those cards since then. Maybe it would work with your deck. Samantha

I have the Shining Tribe and I love it but rarely use it now. Most of my work with it was personal but have done a few readings with it. I plan to keep it because it's Rachel Pollack's work and I admire her tremendously, and it is the deck which goes with Forest of Souls. One idea - I read somwhere here that one member was using Shining Tribe with her little boy who wanted to read the Tarot. Apparently he chose the deck and she goes through a card each day with him, telling the stories from the myths, using Pollack's book to help. So it might be a Tarot you could use with your daughters. Why not give that a try, or ask them what they think?

I think the best thing you can do with the deck is read A Forest of Souls - I read the book first, and then had to have the deck. I tend to use it for more spiritual readings - questions about soul, spirit, the meaning of life. For me it doesn't seem appropriate to questions about work or dating! Best wishes.

I agree about the Forest of Souls....that book is awesome and the deck goes so beautifully with it. I use it and the Fey Tarot..........they are both wonderful in their own way. I have the Rock Art Tarot and thought I would enjoy it as much, but so far it is not calling to me. The Shining Tribe and the Fey keep "haunting me." Peace and blessings....................Michael

But given those who like Ms. Pollack's creativity will be drawn to this deck, the addition of poetry inspiration may add to your enjoyments. Best regards, Cerulean
