First of all, it's a larger size deck, so it's a bit harder to shuffle, but I've found that the cards are flexible enough to get the hang of it or shuffle sideways, lengthwise, or a different shuffling method works fine.
It's a black and white collage deck with Victorian-era graphic imagery. The artist, I feel, did a superb job in combining images to bring out subtle nuances of each card's meanings. I love the art as I am a fan of that type/era of graphic illustration.
The suits are represented with ink pens for wands, Mason jars for cups, clocks/watches for pentacles, and guns, pistols, rifles for swords. These choices are very well explained in the companion book. I recommend getting the companion book because so much of the historical references and stories behind the images are explained. They add a lot of depth to the meanings of each card. While reading with the deck is certainly possible without knowing the background info, it does make for better understanding for the reader.
Personally, I love the deck and find it to be very straightforward, no-nonsense, and rather prim in its readings...but it's supposed to be! It's Victorian! :)

I got the deck and book set and I am glad that I did. I really like the images on this deck although I knoe a few people had problems with the sowrds being guns and wands being fountain pens but I didn't think it was that bad. The best part of the book and deck set is the bag that comes with the deck it is stunning. The reason why I am so glad to get the book is that if you are not really fluent in your knowledge of Victorian History and the famous people of the day then you may feel you are missing a few bits of info that the book explains.

BTW The Devil card is a really scary looking clown I think he is one of the nastiest I have seen but in a good way if you are not scared of them :)

What I like with this tarot are the setting and the people in it. There is a few "exotic" place (the high priestess comes to mind with a few other)
