... and it seems almost male. It does make sense, really!
Once it gets in a mood, it stays that way. (And when it gets grouchy, you'd better watch your little hind end. ;) )
Without the *cough* wet stuff that comes from it *cough* there wouldn't be life on/in mother earth.
The atmosphere makes a sort of protective barrier, much like the head male of the house tends to do.
Does it make sense yet, or am I just whistling in the wind again?

cricket, your new avatar is adorable!!! :)
i see the sky as protective also, and call it 'father sky', and i call the nurturing earth, 'mother'. the wise and mysterious moon is 'grandmother'.
hadn't thought about the sky being male because of it's moodiness, lol. except the angry, powerful thunder and lightening. i always see them as masculine.

Phoenix: I do my best. Besides, would you really expect anything else from someone who thinks ice cream on pepperoni pizza tastes really good right now? ;)
zorya and RedWood: Isn't it, though? Kayne did a wonderful job on it. :D I'm just glad somebody else sees it in the same way. Maybe it's not just a hormonal thing...

Guess what, cricket? In German the sky is masculine, so this seconds your thought (I think it is the same in some NA traditions).
Hm, what about the first line of the Lord's Prayer "Our father in heaven...." do you think a patriarchal god like this one would settle himself in something feminine? Would this also help to support your theory?
