Hi,
I am trying to fit a link that I was sent into a forum. So here it goes.
http://www.frontiernet.net/~cdm/age1.html
click on the link, type in your birthdate and read away. The facts are basically related to the US, but think about them for a minute.
How did the events that happend in your lifetime effect the way you see and interact with the Almighty (God/Goddess).
Blessings and give it a try, pass it on...

and that you were:
24 years old at the time of the 9-11 attack on America
23 years old on the first day of Y2K
20 years old when Princess Diana was killed in a car crash
18 years old at the time of Oklahoma City bombing
17 years old when O. J. Simpson was charged with murder
16 years old at the time of the 93 bombing of the World Trade Center
14 years old when Operation Desert Storm began
12 years old during the fall of the Berlin Wall
9 years old when the space shuttle Challenger exploded
7 years old when Apple introduced the Macintosh
6 years old during Sally Ride's travel in space
4 years old when Pres. Reagan was shot by John Hinckley, Jr.
2 years old at the time the Iran hostage crisis began
Lots of strife and conflict always has made me ask why and dig deeper, understanding what Diety was about and not accepting blind faith. Eventually i reached the truths for me, but it took me many years. Or maybe i havent reached all my truths yet, only time will tell, but ive been close to Deity in one form or another since I was a teenager, and thats important to me

The events that wounded or enflamed my spirit and tempered it into its current form tend to be subtle and personal. It was never those extraordinary historical events, but rather incredibly shameful or intimate moments that are generally mine and mine alone and probably would have had a completely different context for someone else.

I didn't care for this. (Just my opinion! Thank you for posting it anyway cjtarot as others are intrigued by it.) Too many negatives. Too many unimportant people listed. How about some more positives, some more heros, that/who have changed world? What about the end of apartheid? Perestroika or the collapse of the Soviet Union? How old was I when MLK made his "I have a dream" speech, when JFK was elected, when title 9 or Roe vs Wade came to pass? I could go on and on. This is a list of things and people, that/who, FOR THE MOST PART, have had little impact on the formation of my spirit.
And I agree with Laurel. Most of what has caused growth and change in my spirit has been more personal in nature. Nothing more so than having a special needs child.

8 years old at the time of the 93 bombing of the World Trade Center

Interesting. I agree with Woof that there were too many negatives listed, but there are a couple of things here that however did affect me. The Y2K thing taught me not to believe everything I heard on radio/saw on TV/read in the newspapers. But there have been more things that this that have affected and helped shape me spiritually. My parents are the main contributors to this, aswell as the Wombles, my boyfriend, being bullied at school, and just being raised in the way I was.
I don't even remember any of the list when it gets to age 10. I was a very sheltered child.

6 years old when President Nixon left office
I remember this,
but not these:
4 years old when Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace was shot
a 1 year old at the time the first man stepped on the moon
not yet 1 year old when Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated
Though the things that I remember moved me, I don't see much in the way in how it shapes my spirit.

I cannot relate to this either. But one thing really struck me. Was I only 7 when the Challenger exploded?? I remember it very clear. I cried for the families of those people who died that day. And I live in Sweden!
This event is one of the things that got me looking to the sky.
I really wanted to be an astronaut or an astronomer. Too much math got in the way...
Fun site! I have sent it forward.

This is the only one I can relate to, because it made such an impression on me:
23 years old during the fall of the Berlin Wall
It gave me the hope that things can change.
Another event that gave me the same feeling (and which is not listed) was the release of Nelson Mandela (which I think was a year later).
I too find that it's mostly personal things that affect me most and that have helped shape my spirit.
