Tower - drawn as daily card twice in a row

Hi All,

For the second day in a row I have had the Tower as my daily card. I have looked up quiet a few definitions of what it stands for. What does the card mean to you, and how has it affected you if you have received it?

I have never received an upright Tower in a personal reading (I don't do very many).

However, as to others, my perception of the Tower is pretty conventional. I see it as change - inevitable change, and either sudden or unexpected.

Unlike others, however, I don't necessarily see the change in a negative aspect. While the suddenness of the change might be disconcerting, it need not be harmful.

I see the Tower as a card of change as well - something will tumble down.

I see it also as a sign of making room for new things - so the card for me is not saying so much about where the change will happen but more that you need to get rid of something old so that new can come in..from this point of view the card is very, very positive...

However, having said that, I know when it is happeing to you it is difficult to see it that way..and nobody wants to make changes..

According to Tao and Zen nothing on this earth is for ever and the only permanent thing is: change....

so Tower is a good thing - believe that much better things are hidden for you around the coner - and they never get to you because you do not make room for them..

just few thoughts..

greetings

The tower means to me that a big change something happened that the tower is trying you to see, perhaps you are in denial about something and you are having problems admitting it, the tower is telling you that false beliefs and blindness to the truth will come down get ready for a change, the tower is a wake up call to see the truth. you can find a good thread about the tower card here: [www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?threadid=3381]

I agree with the above posts. Some supporting struckture in your life is about to be destroyed. It's going to cause you chaos/confusion, frustration, time and energy.

However, as the others said, that doesn't mean it's alltogether a bad thing. Just as a forest fire makes way for the most fertile soil and freshest new plants, the clearing away of a decaying pillar in you life leaves ampl room built a new and better structure to support yourself.

I looked at a new book today ("Heart of Tarot" by Amber K. & Azrael Arynykk) which gave the following alternative views:

*This tower is being struck by lightning, battered by waves, on fire - but it is still standing strong. Some people have been lost but the building continues against all odds"

I think the purpose of this interpretation is to encourage people to think laterally and not to be afraid to take a fresh view if the context calls for it.

Thanks moongold that does sound like a good view point. Bit like been through a rough patch but you will come out alright.

Hello again Adrian,

Your post made me think a great deal about my initial experiences in reading Tarot (I am still very, very new).

Sometimes I felt quite disturbed at what the cards seemed to reveal. At one time I remember getting a lot of Major cards reversed and nearly stopped reading altogether! Fortunately I posted it here and got some very good advice and a new understanding of the meaning. It was somewhat of a relief to learn that the Devil, for example, could simply mean personal change.

2 Swords has been coming up for me a bit lately and I think I know now what it means for me in the present.

The Tarot shows sometimes a whimsical, sometimes a black humour as well.

Good luck with it all,

Moongold

Adrian!
Greetings! I don't want to sound like a bummer or a poop, but whenever I get the Tower in a reading, I get change alright. But sometimes that change isn't as gentle as I would like, it's catyclismic. My advice to you is not to see this as a "Bad" card. I don't think there are any bad cards, but there are uncomfortable situations in life sometimes that certain cards can describe in an uncannily accurate way. Therefore, my advice to you is this: Just keep on doing your regular daily reading, and keep an eye out for any situations where unexpected, rapid change could shake you up the most. Think about what's up in your life, and just stay aware and alert. If you're due for a Tower change, you'll know it. They can even be really FUN sometimes! (no joke!)

Hi Adrian, a little late to this thread, but here's what my very first deck had to say about the Tower:

That it was change that would rock you to the very foundation. That it might be expected or unexpected, but to hold on, because while it would force you to deal with it, all is not lost and you can rebuild something better and stronger. (sounds a little like the Bionic Man intro from the '70's)....

Adrian

Is the thread below another thread, or just the same? I had that sensation I'd responded to this question in the past and that impression was so strong that I did a search....

Hi folks, I hope it is okay with everyone, but I have moved this thread to "Talking Tarot Cards" since it is more directed at a single card than an actual spread. I left a link in the old spot.
