I was doing a reading: http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11285
and got "The Moon" as action I should take (followed by an Ace of Pentacles as clarification).
What I'd like to ask is: Does "The Moon" tell me to withdraw and wait (pictured by the crab/lobster)? The reason why I'm confused is because the position is "ADVICE" <-- what I should DO. So, yes, I know "Moon" usually signifies illusions, etc...but what does it really tell me to do?
Thank you for looking.

I would read it as 'be cautious'.
You may act but it is a bad time to act dramatically or undertake anything risky. It may mean to take care not to upset anyone -- be aware of concesequences of your actions -- be thoughtful.

I'm going to disagree with "wait". The Moon card also shows a path, and you're walking down it. However, you should move forward cautiously and rely on your instincts and above all else, your comon sense because there -is- more going on than meets the eye. Don't trust his promises, don't take anything on faith. Pay very close attention to his actions. Keep an optimistic outlook, however and assume that the changes that are taking place are for the good and not the bad.

one always moves ahead, regardless of if one is actually doing something for it or not. That "not doing" was what I meant with"wait". And I would not decide now - watch and wait (even if others are bouncing and hopping on the path ;) )

Also, the dog & wolf--your 'companions' may be out of their element. If others currently around you are giving advice at this point in time, it's best to keep this in mind. You're on your own & need to stick to safe trails.

Hmm...I'll keep that in mind! I won't be irrational and impulsive. Surely I won't go wrong if I don't overreact! :P

I'm inclined to agree with those who say you need to wait for some indication of what you should do. Sometimes waiting IS the best course of action. Maybe you don't have enough information to proceed forward and make the right decision at this time.
The Ace of Pentacles as your clarifier, IMO, provides a clue that you are waiting for something solid/physical (perhaps an undisputeable fact?) to materialize before moving foward with confidence.

Have been getting the moon card alot recently in a relationship reading - someone I'm am interested in - showing up mostly in the subconscious aspects position...met someone who has a golden aura but whoose actions seem less than spiritual (towards women especially) so although I am in awe of the aura I am cautious as to the motives of this person Laurel's description fits my situation to a tee...

Aces I see is sudden bursts of energy that often we can't explain where they come from. Now to break down the cards in conjunction with your question.
Ace of Swords ~ A sudden burst of intellectual energy as a challenge. A message of, you need to stay one step ahead of your ex. Keep your wits about you, because what's coming is going to throw you off!
The Moon ~ A path that you have already started and gained a few friends along the way. Be careful of their motives of helping you along your path. Also, the path your on is very narrow and you could easily be led astray, again, you will need your wits and will with you as you travel down this road. In relation to your reading, be careful of his sudden interest in friendship, he may have alterior motives. However, I also see it as you could find yourself back in his arms again and to be careful of his friendship/interest in you.
Ace of Pentacles ~ A sudden burst of energy in regarding earth/materialism. In conjunction to the reading, this coming up as a clarification following the moon, the cards are saying that he has a sudden burst of energy that came out of no where to reunite with you at least as friends, however, his alterior motives are material based. Is he a "gold digger", or does he feel that you owe him something, money, or something of his he thinks you have? Keep thinking, keep that ace of swords close to you, it's your key on seeing past his illusion! Don't limit yourself on anything, sudden bursts of energy have no limits.
hope this helped!

henceforth i will call you cookie mosnter :O) ehehhe
i had the sense that in the action to take you are the crab who must walk the path,, with the good dog ,, and the bad wolf along side of you .. as a choice lies which to believe,, what to believe,, the only thing is you are tryign to make it down the path without veering off ,, due to a kind dog trying ot show you something.. or a nasty wolf chasing you off the path to a house (just going with the images per se it doens't mean that eheh)
yet in other book,, the dog represents the kinder morals we have learn over the age. and the wolves represent the more animalistic instincts buried deep down inside.
at night it is easier to choose the instincts of the wolf over the instincts instill in the dog.
so they are equal at night (the crab, lobster i have't studied yet)
the ace of pentacles,, indeed physical,, a new beginning. and it is the clarifer ?
the answer is act you must,, yet be careful of your instincts as they can . well to use some star wars here
"hide your feelings luke they do you justice but they can betray you"
"once you go down the dark side forever will it consume your desitny " (yet even darth vader was redeemed in the end as he did have some good in him )
for a physical action will start a new beginning of your question yet the real question reminds,, will it be a high noble action..
or a survival instinct based on the laws of the pack .
(the wolf follows the laws of nature ,, and the rules of the pack)
(the dog follows the laws of man,, and his own rules based on the laws of man)
of course this doesn't have to happen as the future is not set in stone. recall that the tarot is only based on probilities and possiblities :O)

This thread is interesting - was almost going to post some questions on the Moon and saw this one already started.
I too have had the Moon come alot in terms of my relationship - sort of relationship.
But it was like this
Moon crossed/covered by the Two of Cups, the Ace of Pentacles as the conscious aspects and the Lovers as the unconscious.....interesting. Will give some more thought to everyones comments about the Moon and post some more soon.....

I agree - think it is telling you to be mindful of illusions and outlandish behaviour - listen to your intuition - be creative but you need to be grounded (ace of pentacles) and look out for a solid beginning/opportunity
Could it be create a solid opportunity?
Good Luck

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who replied to this post. Your helpful comments have given me a clearer direction of how I should act/not act.
Secondly, regarding the quote above - I don't think he's after anything material, because I don't have anything he could want - he's got a job, money (I don't have these obviously as i'm a student). Sex? Nah, he's the "traditional man" type who believes in sex after marriage...so what does he want? *ding*
Ah...he COULD have wanted an "apology" from me, despite me giving it to him for over 30 times already! Apologise for what? Well...our relationship soured coz I didn't trust him enough. But then, even stranger is that he still cares about that?!
Funny thing, considering he's supposed to have a gf, meaning his PAST should be well behind him.
As for the interpretation of the Moon...yes, I feel like I'm walking down some surreal path with all sorts of people giving me contradictory advice, and me not knowing what to do. Even more strange is that all those people who give me advice are friends of his! :P

Two other threads of interest may be:
why is there a lobster in The Moon?; and
XVIII La Lune....
This thread has wonderful reflections, and thought I would also add others (again, this is in the Using Tarot Cards forum, and do not wish to relate my comments specifically to the reading in the other thread).
Though the Moon card can often show some kind of illusory aspect, it may indicate that what is called for is depth of Understanding (the higher Moon of Binah). The Moon, as a celestial body, reflects the light of the Sun, and as such allows a more diffuse radiance to illuminate that which needs to be seen in multivarious forms. Not only the crayfish/crab/lobster sits amidst the still pool of fluid reflectivity, but the two canine-looking animals also display a certain stillness - awaiting, maybe.
The two towers also reflect that, as they are the constructs of humans, skill must be used in order for the pieces to be put together.
Again, then, and in a nutshell, the Moon may symbolise the illusory of the separate parts, awaiting for their restoration into a holistic Understanding...

Personally I would wait, for me this card means uncertainty around us and with others. It warns of dishonesty, deception, false friends, illusions, and hidden dangers. Moody, easily distracted, confused, anxiety, fears, or deceiving yourself is also linked to this card. Be Careful, now is not the time to become emotionally involved.
