Ok, when some thing about a journey shows up in a reading, it doesnt just mean road trip right!?! it could mean spiritual journey, or a metaphor right?!
we all know that each card has its own interpretations and but some books i've read say that depending on the question dependes on which meaning coresponds as the interpretation, but i find that mainly all the meanings the card has has something to do with the seeker and their question, not just one of the meanings.
ahh... i forgot what else i was going to wright, sorry!

Says in your profile that you`ve been studying tarot for about a year.
I think that the meanings in each reading depend on the question, the spread, the other cards, the seeker; everything really, which is why the same card can have many different meanings, depending on the reading.
Holmes, how do you manage to remember such details? My memory is sooooooooo bad.

Hi, I don't know who you are and I don't see why that is important, welcome to the forum:)
Anyway - to you question. The cards can be almost uncanny sometimes and VERY precise.
The Chariot combined with 10 of wands for example could mean a flat tire and a long walk to the nearest gas-station for help.
I have had the Tower meaning a break-in, the 3 of swords meaning an acute ear-infection, 4 of cups (from the Gill deck) meaning stomach flue and the Empress coming up when i rescued a bird falling from its nest etc etc.
So while cards about a journey may imply a spiritual one - one can never be too sure...
You may be surprised.

I've got to go along with the others here. One has to see how the whole reading is tending, what the client is asking, what the other cards are indicating, as well as (and perhaps most importantly) what your own intuition tells you about the reading. Using the example Jema mentions; I've had the Chariot come up reversed in a reading where it indicated that the person was losing control over themselves in a way that their emotions were running wild. I've also had the Chariot come up reversed where I immediately felt that an auto accident was indicated. Oddly enough... I don't think I've had the Chariot show up in a reading in the upright position... hmmmm....
Hope this little ramble was of some help...

I have to agree with all present... dependant on question and cards ..... but I have often had Knight Wands etc come up as an inner journey, moving on, etc

the journey depends on what you recieve as inuitively it might mean. that is why we study the tarot to give us options when it comes to interpating the tarot and then we as tarot readers try to pick the best one for the situation.
"we all know that each card has its own interpretations and but some books i've read say that depending on the question dependes on which meaning coresponds as the interpretation, but i find that mainly all the meanings the card has has something to do with the seeker and their question, not just one of the meanings. ah so what you are saying is alll the meanings of the card corresponds with the question and not just pick the best one eh?
that may be to much generalities, and could limit your accuracy as a card reader if we included all the meanings for a card in a reading. for that is why the client comes to us for a personalized reading, for us to be that mirror of reflection which they can't see themselves.

I am so greatfull for everyone replying to my post!!!
Now looking back at what i wrote and laughing at how confusing it sounds to me, i apologies! My sleepyness at the time really shined through.
What i ment about all the meanings that a card gives, is that yes i am able to pick the one meaning that best fits the question, and pretty much every time my inturpitations are accurate, i also found that the other meanings have a way of pretaining to other things in the seekers life not pertaining to the question. Not every time though.
If i may ask the question that i couldnt remember last time, i havent fully figured out how to combined two or more cards together to get such detailes like the examples Jema gave. If anyone could give me some tutoring or ideas to go by it would be much apperciated!!!:)
P.s. Holms, if you remember from last time we talked i was Pregnant, little boy 6 months old now, and at about a week before i had him, through yes/no questions, i was able to find out the day he would be born, i even went so far as to get a general time!!!!! very exciting for me when every thing fallowed suite!!!!
thank you once more for all your guidence!

Hi,
I am gonna be honest here - much of it for me at least is just plain old-fashioned hindsight.
I wish I was "good" enough to really be able to predict these things. But I am not. Most of the time I don't use the cards for divination, it is only later, after the fact, that I am struck by how accurate it really was, it is only after the events have happened that I have that clear vision and can pick out the main things, the big events in a day and make them fit with the cards.
It is really rare that I can predict things like that.
Still, it does have it's uses anyway, all those events where life and cards fit like hand in glove taught me a lot about the cards - and often about myself too, about my motivations.
But one way to practice is to do pairs, instead of a daily card - try take two cards for a while, journal about them and see if you in the end of the day, can figure out if the cards somehow conencted with your life and how.

The thing that finally made it "click" for me... made it all come together for me... was to post a reading I was having difficulty with (a Celtic Cross spread) in the Your Readings forum. If I remember correctly, it was a reply by Mojo which really showed how the cards flowed from one to the other... how they affected one another... his interpretation really clued me in on it. So, I might suggest that you try this as well. Take a reading which you're having difficulty with - one in which the cards don't seem to make much sense with the question asked - post it on the Your Readings forum and see what some of the other people here have to say.
[edited to add:] I just realized that I should have posted a link to that old posting of mine... you can see that reading at; http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6901

When something that symbolizes a journey comes up in a card reading, then yes, it can be some type of internal journey. For example, a spiritual journey to find your personal higher power, a journey to begin school, or a journey to begin your career once you have graduated. It depends mostly on how the querent feels about what is going on, if s/he views it as a personal journey, or something that just is b/c that's the way it is. Is this making any sense? hmmm.
