I've been trying to find a good CD that would set a nice mystical calming mood when I do readings. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I've been using Sarah McLachlan's Afterglow lately, but after awhile the words get a bit distracting.

I have an album of celtic romance music, very soothing. Moby might do the trick but you may want to program what tracks you want.
I just put in what i usually listen to and have the lyrics match with the card spreads, it has an everyday quality to it.

Loreena McKennitt is a good choice. Her music and her voice are quite aerial. I discovered recently Medieval Babes, sometimes they mix modernity with medieval musics.

I have a few particular favourites for when I am reading cards ....
Medicine Woman by Medwyn Goodall
(it was the description on the CD of this one that first caught my attention - "Medwyn uses traditional South American instruments and rhythms to celebrate the power of the Feminine. This music represents a bridge between the old ways and the new).
Well Balanced by Oliver Shanti & Friends - a Native American sound. Used to use both of these CDs when reading with my Native American Tarot.
But now that I have changed to another deck for my more regular readings like the following:
Summer Rain and also Rainforest Magic by Tony O'Connor - these are both instrumentals with sounds of nature but make really lovely background, relaxing music.
Also like "Wolf Magic" which is described as a magical blend of music and the sounds of nature - I love it but some people find the subtle wolf howls through the CD a bit off putting. But have a couple of friends who love wolves and always ask for this CD to be put on!

I have made my own mix of music for the Faeries' Oracle deck, which I have burned copies of for a few of the old timers around here. (Not sure if they are listened to anymore..:D). I even made a Water Fae mix for a very special mermaid around here, who's treasured presence I have not seen in many moons.

Some new music I just picked up that might do the trick...not sure what you are looking for.
The Beta Band- 3EPs is pretty evenly groovy with not to obtrusive lyrics.
Air- Moon Safari is the one I have been falling to sleep to recently.
These are more of the psychedelic genre than the ones suggested before.

Hi all,
David and Steven Gordon have some wonderful CDs. I have three of their native American type CDs: Sacred Earth Drums, Sacred Spirit Drums, and Sacred Drum Visions. Very good music!

The Celtic/Renaissance style songs with Maggie Sansone on hammered dulcimer (there are also other, accompanying instuments), are fantastic. Go to www.maggiesmusic.com and click on Maggie Sansone among the artists to the left (I have her "Dance Upon the Shore" CD, but I bet you can't go wrong with any of them), and ALSO, scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click on SAMPLER. This is an unbeliveable value at $5.00. One of my favorite CD's, the samples are full songs and they are all great.
