Hey guys...
Im doing research (you know me, the Tarot book worm) about the meanings and representation of colour in Tarot - Namely the Rider Waite...
Ive come to discover that colour actually plays a much larger role than I first thought... For example - Yellow represents intellect, Blue represents emotion etc - Does anyone have any information on this - And examples?
eg - The two yellow dogs in The Moon - The two of swords yellow shoes. The Blue scarf of the Page of Cups etc etc

Hey Rogan
I would be interested in studying color symbiotics in tarot. Could you suggest some books?
Thanks

Hi Rogan and Reed...
Sorry but I`m not sure how to add a link but you will find lots of info at www.tarotmoon.com. I`m also very interested with all the symbolisms.
Hope this helps a little.
BLUE -- Blue is the color of the element Water, and the subconscious mind. Many cards with a deep blue sky or predominance of blue are associated with working through subconscious processes, including the High Priestess, The Hermit, The Star, The Moon, Eight of Cups, and Two of Swords. Anyone wearing blue clothing is likely to have an introspective frame of mind, or is making use of their subconscious (UW King of Cups).

Personally, I use a broader spectrum of color interpretation. I find that I read color in the moment of the reading...depending upon the card and the image and the placement in the spread.
Sometimes blue is communication (throat chakra), sometimes emotion....sadness, "blue"....or sometimes it is a blossoming of awareness like the light blue sky of a clear day. Sometimes it is dark and murky....it just depends....I also see the colors as representing different domains..I mentioned emotional...but could be material (as a Surrounding influence, as an obstacle, as something to do with the Past, or the Present or an Outcome)
Spiritual domain....
Depends....
Again, I read the colors as meanings come forward during a reading.
Various deck creators and authors have their own "takes" on colors, but that shouldn't exclude a rich and varied interpretation of colors from taking flight during a reading.

Thanks guys - That sounds great - I'll look into that link too...
Reed - I have a mentor who's pretty much been keeping me up so speed about the colours - I'll ask him what books he recommends..

Thanks Cybercat!
I'll give it a try:
Depending on its shade, pink can symbolize a psychic connection or sensual pleasure. I have Morgan Greer, but I think this can translate--
This shade shows up in the Ace of Cups, three of Cups, nine and ten of Cups, and Page of Cups.
Gold symbolizes such attributes as attainment, soul power, and the devine. You can see gold throughout the court cards, the Pentacle suit, and most of the Majors.
Thanks again, Rogan! I look forward to your post.
