The Bohemian Gothic Tarot

it played out WONDERFULLY! you see my friend had cancer in High School and as a result they had to remove her middle finger on her right hand (same hand she's holding the glass), so she has only 4. She was the one that noticed it and screamed "oh my God that really is me!" and the rest of the card made perfect sense, but it was that image alone that was very powerful.

I was scared I couldnt read with this deck, because I tried it on myself, but this reading was uncanny. We still have goosebumps today. she loves this deck!!! Thank you!!!!

How amazing. Yes, goosebumps indeed.

Well, I'm finding that this deck is a bit of an uncanny reader - it's surprised me a lot in some instances. It can be very loud and clear. Oddly, I'm finding I read it faster than normal; usually I take a long time over readings, but with these cards I can often "see" what I'm doing almost immediately.

Well I've heard of "hair of the dog" but .... hair of the moon??

baba-prague, thanks for sharing a bit about how your creative process works. Fascinating!

I absolutely loved your in-depth posting and pictures on the whole complex creative process, I'd love to read even more!! Very fascinating. I've always wondered about certain aspects, and you mentioned a few things...I had no idea!

My sister was thinking of ordering the BG Silver and mentioned to me when she went to the MRP website, that there was a note on the page that the BG Silver are down to less than a 100! How many are left? Wow they flew out the door!! Took almost a year to reach that mark with the Victorian Romantic Gold...I have no idea how many BBC Gold are left. But selling over 400 decks in a month is quite shocking. Great work obviously!! :D

Yes, we have a slightly crazy way of working - it's time-consuming but gives our own "look" I suppose - which I think isn't quite like anything else.

I don't know exactly - but there aren't that many. Well under 100 anyway. They are all stacked (our studio is very tiny so things are packed in tight) so I would have to pull them all out to count. But I know we had a full box of 96 and most of another box about three weeks ago, though we knew a lot were "spoken for" - but now some have gone off to TarotGarden and to other wholesalers and lots more have been ordered, so that's the kind of amount we are physically left with. 90 perhaps? It's hard to say anyway as it always depends a bit which wholesale orders we agree to meet - we try to keep the limited edition decks only for specialist retailers. If we met all wholesale orders we would already be out.
Orders may slow down now of course. If they don't it looks like we will sell out this spring. It's slightly unnerving as I haven't even really advertised or pr-ed the deck properly.

Even more unexpected by the way - we are already, on paper, out of the standard deck. Well, we would be as wholesalers have now ordered MORE than we had. But we kept back some for us as otherwise it would be ridiculous. Hmm, it's awkward as we haven't even considered reprints yet (of the standard that is, of course we won't reprint the Silver).

Hah! Spasiba.

and for those who are wondering, she said "Well done" and I said "Thank-you." Vassa complains that I say "Please" and "Thank-you" so much that she finds it unnerving. She had to ask Alex to ask me to stop doing it so much. Don't you just love cultural differences?

I love the original postcard of the woman looking up. The soft sepia shadows, and especially the beautiful woodsy background. I hope you end up using that tree-lined bridge and stream in something someday!

I suppose we won't be so fortunate, but how I would love a sepia-toned deck from Magic Realist Press.

Good Heavens, what a lovely idea!

Well, would an almost sepia-toned film do instead? The film we will be working on this year has a wonderfully soft, faded palette.

By the way, these old photos are beautiful things in their own right, aren't they? I LOVE the look of old studio and "Cabinet" photographs.
