I'm curious, I own only the 3rd edition, so it isn't possible to compare. But I love this tarot deck and maybe I think about purchasing the 2nd in the future. So, what do you think is the best edition for you and why?

Rest assured, I'd say the 3rd is perhaps the best. Either that or the first. The 2nd edition Lovers card just never did it for me, I'm afraid. Only that, the rest is fine . I even have some red splashes on my Star card and I'm fine with that. I love the 1st edition. I love everything about it, but as the 3rd edition has lovely Lovers card and all the subsequent changes , I love it. I love the card stock too, though I know a lot don't. I'm very happy with the 3rd edition.

However, to be honest, in answer to your question, the correct response is - of course - it's the Silver edition that's the best...think moonlight and daguerreotypes.

Would have been nice to have the 3rd with the silver edges.

I think the 3rd edition is the best. The first edition printing was not good. The images were so
dark you couldn't make out the detail in the cards. The 2nd printing was ok, They lightened
up the images a bit. I don't care for the Silver Limited edition. The silver ink is opaque so
where ever there is in, it blocks out the image behind it. I found it distracting. I think it
would be a great collector's deck but not for use, at least not my opinion. The Pewter
edition was nice with the silver edges but I never heard anyone talk about how that was
after being used for a while, if it wore of or not. 3rd is still my favorite.

The silver limited edition with metallic ink overlay, hands down!

None of the subsequent reprints are even close to the silver in terms of beauty, it stands alone. But I would recommend the first edition as a close substitute to the silver. While the first edition lacks that special metallic silver ink treatment, it has the same delightful card stock and wonderful printing quality. In fact, to many collectors, all earlier MRP decks printed in Czech are synonymous with quality. So if you have a limited tarot budget, do try out the earlier editions first!

3rd is my favorite too, but I also really like the 2nd with gilded edges.

I never cared for the silver edition. Had it twice sold it twice.

in terms of production...

The first edition has a weight in the hand that the 3rd edition almost has and which I like. The cardstock feels heavier than the 2nd edition, which has a more unbending touch, but crunchy in the shuffling.

But when I first held the 3rd edition I was reminded of the quality weightiness of the 1st edition cardstock.

Do I sound like one of those verbose wine experts, only specialised in cardstock?

Only if you discussed bouquet...

I have the 1st, 2nd, Pewter, 3rd Regular, and 3rd Mini. Still searching for a Silver! Of those, I really like them all for different reasons. But I really like the heavy cardstock of the 2nd. But to just shuffle and handle I really like the Mini! It fits my hands so nicely.

The images of the 2nd are softer than those of the 3rd, but not as bright.

gosh, yes, we forgot the mini!

Toss that one into the mix too. I love my mini. And I'm not really into minis but this one is just perfect. Not strictly mini, just handy palm-sized.

The silver edition of course! It's sublime and beautiful. I don't like the changed Lovers card in the second because I really love the Lovers card of the first and silver edition.
