New to runes - looking for advice!

generation

Hi everyone. I'm really interested in studying runes. For the last few months, I've read a lot about them on the Internet. I've ordered Teutonic Magic, and am looking forward to reading it.

I was wondering... is it best to buy a set to start with, or to make your own set? What would be the best materials to use?

Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you!

generally speaking, i believe any divination tool you make yourself will be better than something purchased, as it will also contain your intent.

on the other hand, i use a lovely set that was made and given to me by a dear friend. even if i were to make my own, i think i would still favour the one gifted to me.

here is an old thread about making runes.

I have several beautiful sets of runes

I have made my own sets but I do like my citrine set. My best advice would be to go with whatever feels strong for you. I have a set made for me from stones found in many magical areas. I was once told that you will know the perfect set by the vibrations you feel.--Tao

To bring Runes into your life personally, try starting with found
objects, things that speak to you in a special way, especially
stones and windfall branches. Things will begin to change.

As your purchased selections grow in number, and there are
lots of wonderful Rune sets and books, jewelry and talismans,
the things you brought into your life while exploring your own
feelings and perceptions will always resonate in a special way.

I have a beautiful collection of branches, and there are some
trees in the back garden I call my Rune Woods, though
cutting a living branch has never crossed my mind. It's like
there's a connection in everything that you can relate to.

have fun, enjoy

Since learning is a process, and the means is the end to the goal,
don't feel hesitant to visit a hobby shop and check out the bags
of smooth river rocks, or pre-cut wooden pieces of all shapes.
The deft application of enamel paint for models can work wonders,
and they often have fantastic little boxes, pouches and tokens.
