Cards stick together (need better solution.. thought i had a solution)

I got my Wild Unknown deck in the mail and they are gorgeous!!! I've been trying to read with them but the edges stick together in clumps real bad. I tried separating each one into a separate pile and even tried putting powder between the cards, lol. [emoji15]

So then I decided to distress the cards using aged mahogany distress ink and that did the trick. Since the cards are a different type of card stock (which I love!) the distress process was a little more labor intensive but I love the way they came out and they now separate easily like untangled hair.

** Update: stuck together in clumps again!

Yes. Get some Magician's Fanning Powder. A little bottle costs less than ten bucks and will last you forever. It is 100% zinc stearate, nothing like talc. If anything will fix your sticky cards, it's Fanning Powder.

Also: let them air dry for several days. Sometimes cards get damp in the package and that helps.

Yes. And also - talc (and other non-specialist powders) attracts damp from the atmosphere, so can actually make things worse...

On YouTube they also say you can use soap (specifically Cashmere Bouquet). Has anyone tried this? Fanning powder will take until the end of the month to deliver.

I use fanning powder with great results, so I'd only add that a little goes a long way. Whether you sprinkle over fanned out cards or apply it slowly (I usually pour onto newspaper and use a small brush to dust each), for me the most important part is to wipe down the cards with cotton balls afterward. I shuffle the deck a little, and then go card by card, lightly wiping front and back, switching to a new cotton ball every 10 - 15 cards. Afterward there should be no cloudy streaks or grey where the original card color was black; it should look like it did before you started. Although it seems like you removed almost all of it, the deck still fans and shuffles beautifully. :)
