Hi my friend:)

Hum.... Let's say a Business Angel so ha ha !!

There is so much Tarot of Marseilles Pattern decks to reproduce and share that choosing is always a hard task.

Luckily more and more independent cardmakers are showing up this last years/months.

I cross fingers for quality works because one have to respect this old historical decks and their original makers and engravers.

Old Master cardmakers are watching us from "the sky"...........

Cheers,

Yves

The angel may come as a New Master Cardmaker, riding on a llama...;) (LOL)

Wow.

I finally had some time to look through this jpg's. Truly fantastic deck. Could be the prettiest one i've ever seen, seriously, and it's jumping to the top of my wish list (*wink*, Yves). There's something watery about it that i love. The font is fantastic as well. Dodal meets Madenie and back!

Can't wait for the day this sees the light once again!

Bon chance all y'all.

wonderful study

Thank you everyone for adding to this discussion so that others may learn.

Kenji, I am very grateful. I see Yves and Bertrand here, and now Yoav. Hello from Ferol.

I have never been so fascinated about anything in my life.

I am learning and will I am sure have many misunderstandings, but I accept that, as long as I am carried in the correct direction by my instincts, and the fine studies of others. Gratitude!

Some time ago I had drawn the attention on the visible cuts on Payen and on Viéville:

"Also, there are these strange cuts on the face of the Valet de bastons (servant of stick) and on the upper denier of 3 of denier. I am very satisfied to find them because there are also (but in largest number) cuts on Viéville. They are not clumsiness of the engraver."

I dedicated it a page on my website with photos where we see well these cuts :

I believe that we can begin to understand these caesuras(breaks) with the arcan I and the arcan VIII of Viéville. I dedicate a long chapter in my book " The Mysteries of the tarot of Viéville " about the cut of the arcan VIII. I shall try to translate this passage for a next comment.
Hello Mystavi,
studying in my first steps towards woodcut and then make xylograph, discovered the advantages of linoleum over wood and over time, which those strange cuts show us that we have tried to engraving on wood.

Linoleum is less sensitive to climate. Wood, moreover, tends to expand and contract, depending on the ambient humidity. The timber may be deformed and broken, depending on environmental conditions. This may slightly change the image.
One major concern is that a block of wood can be broken when twisted passing through a gravure press. Linoleum is stronger in this regard. Not expand and contract with moisture.
A linoleum block will not crack in a press, even when it is deformed.

In summary, it is the passage of time, weather conditions and own use of printing block.
