Owlless Red Owl?

Yes, I may have coined the word 'owlless', but it's a matter of some import where coining may have to do. I recently acquired - thanks to a fellow ATer - a Lenormand that purports to be from the 1940s thanks to a small, typed sticker inside the box. It appears to be a Red Owl with French verses in all aspects but the actual owl; the backs have one of those nicely ornate geometric card-back patterns in lieu of an avian visage.

Does anyone know anything about this particular vintage? The typed sticker inside claims that the deck was purchased either in Switzerland or France in 1949.
