Pentacles and emotions

Amanda

Someone was asking me about this, and I wasn't really sure how to verbalize it. This is what I said back to the person:

Well, I tend to see the pentacles having to do with more practical emotions (I am an earth sign, I would know.. lol) Security, generosity, care - they might not seem particularly deep, but they are more universal among most people I think and are extended further out beyond the individual I think. Pentacles people show the same care for a person as they would an art project... they're gentle with it. It has more to do with how one feels in relation to others I think when it comes to pentacles and emotions... whereas a cup, sword, or wand is more individually based.

I'm interested on other people's thoughts on this.

Pentacles also show that people act on their emotions in a *practical* way.

for instance, recently a very badly injured magpie with perhaps only minutes or hours to live in terrible agony, was found outside my fence-line by my neighbours. They fluttered around it and stroked it, and eventually left it there, Cups people, both of them. It was left to me, Little Miss Pentacles, to pick the poor thing up, place it tenderly behind the wheel of my car, and crush it. Even I couldn't bring myself to wring its bloodied neck.

My love and caring for the bird was practical, and had a positive outcome for the bird. Theirs was impractical, and didn't have a positive outcome for the bird. That's how Pentacles express themselves in emotions.

Er.. yes. You 'placed it tenderly', obviously no bad intentions, only to relieve the poor thing. I think this is a perfect example of why so many people think that pentacles people are insensitive which is simply not the case. :)

I couldn't do what you did nisaba, but I would know what needed to be done and then have someone else carry out the deed.

The person I was talking to said that Cups would be more nurturing... and I'm not sure that's true.

We were actually talking here once about the psychic abilities assigned to the suits, and I think I need to change my stance on what I said in that post (wherever it is, I have no idea where I would even begin looking, sorry).

swords, clairaudient folks.
cups, your clairvoyant folks.
wands, your intuiters.. or 'just knowers'
I think pentacles are actually your empaths and perhaps experience a great deal of emotion, which is why they never display so many.

I agree that pentacles would be the more practical emotions. They are also the more grounded and enduring emotions. Lust, infatuation, joy, hatred, etc. are not pentacles emotions. Pride of accomplishment could be a pentacles emotion. As could a deep-seated love that lasts for decades.

To find anyone's posts (including your own), you can click the Find Posts link under anyone's post and it will find every post that person has made. To narrow down the scope of the search, you can do an advanced search for the person's name within a timeframe and within one or more forums (hold the control key down as you click each forum). You can also choose to have the results listed as threads or as posts. I believe the default search returns results as posts.

This thread was really helpful to see a different way of a pentacle emotions. A lot of spreads I've been reading come up with many pentacles, and it was hard to interpret. I wasn't quite sure how to incorporate them into a relationship spread reading. So thank you. It gives me a lot to think about. :)

In my experience, pentacle people can step back from feelings to analyze something more objectively. Pentacle people are very good at truly putting themselves in someone else's shoes and walking around in them. They are less quick to jump to conclusions and pass rash emotional judgements. Even when a pentacle person disagrees, they can often say, "Well, yeah, I can see why she did that." Pentacle people tend to be grounded pretty solidly IMO.

I'm not sure that pentacles are any less nurturing than cups, just that they seem to me to be more practical. They aren't exactly lacking in emotions that others have, and aren't really detached in the way swords can be ... they are just less likely to be swept away like cups can be or less likely to be overcome/overpowered by their emotions like wands can be.

I agree Tresha, good thoughts! :)

Hi,

I have occasionally read Pentacles as how emotions materialize impact.

As a small child, I'd feel better nurtured by a pentacles mother who made sure there was food on the table and warm blankets at a regular bedtime, than I'd feel with a Cups mother always infatuated with men and off socialising <grin>. Stability is a *good* thing.
