Seasons

Ange

I wonder if someone could clear something up for me...:)

In the book, Tarot Tips, by Ruth and Wald Amberstone, the seasons are given as follows...

Swords....spring
Wands.....summer
Cups.......autumn
Pentacles...winter.

However, in the book, It's All In The Cards, by John Mangiapane, we have...

Swords.....winter
Wands......autumn
Cups......summer
Pentacles....spring.

Any idea which is the right on, or indeed, if there is a right and wrong?

There is no right or wrong when it comes to seasons (or tarot, for that matter). Use whatever assignations you are comfortable with.

That is how I'd thought of it.....:)

I use....
Swords....spring
Wands.....summer
Cups.......autumn
Pentacles...winter.

Winter has to be swords, for me. Other than that I can tolerate anything !

What if you were in Australia ;) ?

Winter is winter, wherever you are. Seasons are not the same as dates :)

Hmmmm. No it isn't, really. Winter in Australia is their summer. How can it be "cold and dry" (i.e., air or swords) for Australia in the winter? Just my opinion!

Same goes for other parts of the world. For instance, Autumn is the rainy season in the Middle East. If I lived in Israel I may feel that cups were fall because of all the rain. (Same goes for Southern California).

Winter in Oz is their cold season, is it not ? That is what THEY call winter - they have Christmas in summer, no ?

ETA Yes. Look.

That's what counts for me. (And their winter is the coldest season they have..... poor things)

Anyway - as you say- there are no rights and wrongs ;)

No, summer is their cold season.

YOUR summer is their cold season. See link above. They call their hot season summer - just as we do. It isn't about dates (for me anyway) - it's about SEASONS.
