I just draw them with pen, doubt I'll ever get them. Only tattoos I want would be eyeliner, and only piercings I want woujld be ear gauges, but that's a long-ish story.

Busy today and tomorrow but I may get around to desigining more. Prolly post them if I do.

Please do :) You have talent!

love your tattoo design!

the first tattoo i ever had was a seven-pointed star, chosen in part because of the tarot association.

next an ankh, a crescent moon and a bat...all of them are black and your design would match my own!

I've toyed with the idea of the Star in the Madonni tarot for many a year but I'm cautious...a friend of mine had a pixie drawn in her twenties which now resembles roadkill :(

Yeah, tattoos do blur with age. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't have gotten the Celtic knotwork, which is now an undifferentiated black blob. And I'd have made my sun a simpler design with less fine detail. The facial features and rays are very blurry now. Tribal-style designs seem to hold up the best over time.

Haha yeah. I have a friend with inch and a half plugs. Pretty sure he'll regret that in a couple of years. Tattoos are the same. Hence me just designing them for other people and not myself. :D

There is nothing like the endorphin rush though. :D

And mine tell a story, they're important to me. I would never have them removed, even if it were inexpensive and risk-free to do so. I would just have drawn my designs bolder, not trying for fine detail.

Plus, there is something beautiful about old tattoos. Can't lay my finger on it, but it's like my old tools that were my dad's, with all their dings and paint blotches and patina of hard use. They've acquired a rugged charm that a brand new tool -- or tattoo -- just can't have.

OMG. You're one of THEM. LOL People told me about it, but it didn't happen for me. It just HURT. The whole time. I love my tattoo. LOVE it. But I really, really hesitate to go through that again.

Mine's about seven years old now and as perfect as when it was first done. But I had an excellent artist do it, it's only black ink, I use lotion on it frequently, and it's on my calf where it doesn't see a lot of sun.

I'm debating having a tattoo done across my mastectomy scars, but I'd like the scars to fade a bit more first. And I haven't thought of a design that I'd like in such a prominant place.

I am happy to interject that I have a wealth of well adored tattoos, some more than a decade old and they are, as well, perfect. A tattoo can look pristine for decades PROVIDED that the recipient cares for it and themselves AND they commission a wonderful artist who can design something that will wear well AND have the education to put it in the skin in such a way that it holds well too.

Talk to me when yours are more like 30 years old :)
