HI I just saw the orniothomancy as mine and it makes sense to me as last night i saw a tawny owl on me before i slept. I had a feeling. I have saved birds as we use to get many rarer ones in our garden and each day they would greet us. we got lost in wales and I said to my friend follow the birds crows near us and they followed us the whole way back.
so I'm happy to try this.

For a plan on how to do this I was thinking what if we chose one person each week from no 1 to 8. the first person does their experiment and we each read from them in turn during that week and post our readings below their original reading. yet this will stretch for 8 weeks and mean some of us will have to wait several weeks before trying out or experiments.

Satori

Yup, you got it flicker!
Look back at the first post and you'll find the list with the names randomized already! Netzach is first up for the reading. Once she creates her thread we will go from there.

I was thinking that we can put up our questions once the thread gets created for your week. That way, you don't have to worry about what to do if your question changes once your turn comes up.

So, be on the lookout for Netzach's thread.....will link to it once I see it.

Thank you Satori. Glad to be a part of this and intrigued as to how it will turn out.

scrying is one of my favorite divination methods (along with tarot). What are yours, Satori?

I've been trying to get back to you on this question!!!

Well, the over the shoulder divination appeals to me because I like using the environment you find yourself in as a way to answer questions. I believe that we have the answers to everything around us all the time, the thing is knowing what to look for, and how to interpret it.

Now that is a hard thing to do! I believe we ourselves are the magic that makes divination possible...all the methods are just that...methods. This quote by Marianne Williamson is one of the best explanations of my philosophy that I've ever seen!

Marianne Williamson said:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

So, if the magic is within us, if we are meant to shine and manifest the glory of God that is within us, in all of us, then we don't really need the cards or the crystals or the pebbles or the bones or the water and the oil! We just need to tune into our own inner wisdom, the God inside of us and believe in what we are hearing.

That last part is the hardest part, or at least it has been for me. I used to think, who am I to hear the voice of God??? And since we have learned from childhood that the priest or the nun is the one who is most in tune with God we have turned a deaf ear to that Voice. We learned that we shouldn't even try to listen for it.

Divination, reading has been about a return to listening for and hearing the voice of the divine for me. I'm interested in using the world around me for divination. So the over the shoulder approach was immediately attractive to me, because if I turn and see birds flying and the whisper of the wind is on my own cheek, and the flap of the tarps hanging on our shed become one in my mind and some kind of message is evident...then all of that is the divination. And all I had to do was look over my shoulder to See it.

I want to learn to slip into that place or zone where all things are possible easily...using what is available to me.

Did I answer the question?????

OMG, what a long list!!

It will take several lifetimes to do each of these divinations :D :D

Thanks for sharing the info SSN

Oi, some of them are really interesting and never thought it would exist!!

Satori

Yes, it is amazing what you can use to divine with. I do have a link in the first post as well to the types of divination.....there is so much in that post it is easily missed.

starrystarrynight

Oh, Satori, I missed seeing that link in your first post! Sorry!

Can you imagine divining by watching dripping blood or observing urine!? I did a double take at gyromancy, wondering who came up with that!

Satori

Actually, it makes sense to have the whole list up in the thread...so thanks for that. I can't imagine sacrificing an animal in order to divine. That just seems so...evil.
