Abstract Cards

Tigerangel

I have been trying to put together a tarot deck for myself for just personal use as when it comes to drawing I am just no good at it at all.
So I have been using a paint program to cut and paste different things together and have a few done, then last night I was trying different effects on The Fool card and I ended up with this.. I just love how the colours stand out to me http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/... prophets bayside/Tarot Readings/abstract.jpg

Now I might make an abstract deck along side the one I'm working on too. Whenever I do any others I'll add them to this post at a later date.

That looks cool. I have several decks like that, where you just kinda stare at it, and get an overall impression of what it means.

Thanks, this is The Fool card that I made with cutting and pasting from different images from the public domain(so not my original work to start with) then just added different parts together to make My Fool card http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/...yside/Tarot Readings/thefool2_zps5a512cb6.jpg so it went from this to the abstract image, still think I might add something else this one though as feel it's still missing something.

I like your cards -- looking forward to seeing more of them.

There have been some abstract decks done before, I can think of the Chaos & Fractal Firebird for examples. Also someone here once started a deck using paint sample chips from the hardware store (that is, a single colour for each card).

I can see personal success with these cards, because the colours and shapes will be meaningful to you. But agree you need to keep showing them to others to gradually make a deck accessible to a wider audience. Keeping in mind that no deck appeals to everyone and abstract decks will have an even smaller 'market share'. :)

Thanks, it's sort of a labour of love, just keep throwing ideas here and there with them, think it will be a long time before I manage to happy with a full set to print out for my own personal use.

This is the Ace of Cups in abstract form http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q255/tigerangel71/personal tarot deck ideas/aceofcupsabs.jpg

And this is the Ace of Cups with a border and text added to it http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q255/tigerangel71/personal tarot deck ideas/aceofcups.jpg

Have a few others done aswell will post them up when I've added them to my photobucket account.

Thanks for your comment Alta, Think I will be working on this for a long time before I print it out for myself, It is intended only for my own personal use, as I am using images available from the public domain and then using different parts to put together to form my own version of a card, and I wasn't sure if doing that is infringing on any copyrights of the orginal image I'm using as I just search through images on google till I see one I want to use so don't have any links to where the orginal image comes from, but it is fun making these for myself I'm finding making the card helps me learn it better aswell :)
