Cocentrating too much on the question drains me out...please help

tarot_red

Hi,
I am very new at Tarot and have not had the opportunity to do many face to face readings. But when I do read for someone I have a certain way of doing it (like everyone has their own)

So I ask the querent the question, close my eyes, start shuffling and keep repeating the question in my mind (while picturing or thinking about the querent at the same time). When I feel I feel a reasonable connection, I stop shuffling.
This whole process of connecting with the querent takes a few minutes, but that's not the issue. I think during the time I concentrate and focus too much , and as a result feel quite drained out and sometimes even get a headache after an hour or so.

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Really need some help. Thanks.

Do you know about grounding and centering?

This.
If you are doing something to gather up energy, however you do so, it would be wise to make sure you disperse that energy when you are done

I was getting the same types of feelings when I worked with patients. I am a physical therapist who learned a new technique that was more "energy" focused. I was getting drained and flighty and had the same sorts of things you have going on. I also get that way with reading, so I have to ground myself before and after.

I can send you links to read about it so you can learn. But basically, that "heady" feeling you get is your energy being so high in your body it is similar to it "spinning" around your head. I use grounding to get my energy lower in my body - to make me more "balanced, grounded, centered". Calmer. You are not doing anything wrong..just getting "swept away". There many different techniques. I'll try to find different articles for you. I use a wonderful audio series that is made for health care workers, but can be useful to anyone.

Another technique is "protecting" - that is something I need to do also:)

When I work with patients I need to identify which emotions/feelings are mine versus the patients. In order to differentiate, I need to ground myself prior. To me, it is meditative.

This happens to me also with readings..especially when I tap into someone's emotions - especially if a person is very ungrounded I get swept away and have to "bring myself back down to earth".

let me look for some links for you:)

Oh, another thing. Besides specific techniques..there are elements of the earth that are grounding too. Going outside..nature..water..dirt. I have my room filled with plants. A small water fountain. Bird feeders outside. I was told my someone to have a bowl of dirt and sea salt..and put your hands in it between readings. Eating or drinking can help too. Many things:) Petting an animal:)

This next one is the audio tape I use very often..there's also a 10-part series. But I use tape 2 "Healing from the core: Basic Relaxation and energizing" tape. It is all about Grounding. Scroll down and you can see it is the second tape in the "healing from the Core" tapes listed. I paid and downloaded it right away.
The series/seminar is called "Healing from the Core". It is the one for healthcare employees, but it can be for anyone! :)

Shielding is another tool. Imagine yourself surrounded by a protective bubble, light etc.

I hope this will help you. It took me months to figure out I wasn't feeling well and what was causing it. I was told "you are the most grounded person I know" from my boss (NOT! LOL) so she didn't think she had to teach me the technique. So i didn't know what to look for. When I figured it out it led me to learning so much..and feeling fo much better. I hope it helps you:) The tape is the best I have found:)
