A quick update here. The partnership between TGC and SPOD has now been dissolved.

If anyone is still following this thread...

I'm just starting the creation of a new deck and just found out about these TGC folks. I have no trouble doing the art at a full bleed, even leaving out essential details too close to the edge of my art...I'm wondering about the little roman numerals that I've created at the bottom of my majors, and if they are likely to be cut off. I'm only 3 cards in at this point, so I can certainly start doing them differently. Hopefully someone is still following this thread who might know.
Thanks ahead.

postage costs?

This could be the answer for many of us aspiring deck creators..! I do wonder though how high the postage costs would be? Can anyone who has used them comment on this please?

Star Game

Hello,

I learned about this site through Gregory some months ago and made a game through it.

I also posted a review:

http://www.thegamecrafter.com/forum...ew-customer-feedback#idd_7vu8msM-xl-D5azEJY3w

Because my particular game is more expensive than most - my game cost me $48 to buy, and the postage was just over $40. (It's expensive because of the cubes it uses).

But I was satisfied with the cards printed to go with it. The stock (gsm) is servicable and fairly sturdy. The corners are even rounded slightly. The gloss is nice and the clarity was excellent. If you intend to use TGC switch to a browser other than Internet Explorer as its not compatible with TGC and causes all kinds of problems such as with uploading.

As long as you shrink your image to fit within the published zone and leave room on the top, bottom and sides for bleed you shouldn't have any problems. I have tiny writing on my cards and its still perfectly legible. the cards are 6cm x 9.5cm by the way.

TGC is a really Good option in my opinion for anyone wanting to self publish, to take a look at their deck physically printed, or even to sell it.

Thank you for your response Ryan, this still sounds like the most feasible option that I have found yet for publishing decks that are affordable. I am so pleased that I came across this, and cannot believe that I was away from AT for so long - considering how rich this forum is with resources!

Your game sounds and looks interesting!

I see that the Ta-Rat is on the Gamecrafter site, and I'm guessing that her Rabbit Tarot may have been printed this way as well. Given the size and feel, I suspect the Tarot of Trees might have been done there too. Rabbit and Trees both have a very nice feel to them. Good size, like the cardstock. If I were dipping my toes in the waters of making my own deck I'd definately consider this, especially if they decide to add some larger sizes.

Thanks for posting the link, Philebus. This would be fun to try.

They do have a Deck Sample that you can order, so that's one way to see how the cards handle. I just might order them and check this out!

Peace,

anyone know the shipping cost to Europe for this sample?

The Game Crafter people are really great! They have a hard time currently keeping cards centered, which is a deal breaker for me, but they are in the process of upgrading so that won't be an issue. They also say on their blog they will be able to offer tuck boxes and two additional sized cards by the end of the year!!! I'm VERY excited about these possibilities!

Overall though, I find their customer support very friendly and helpful.

Game Crafter has upgraded and improved their cutting

"Since we had to replace all of our dies for our new card stock size, we have replaced our old die cutter with a new more accurate machine as well. Our new cutting system has nearly pixel perfect accuracy. This will allow your designs to get closer to the edge than ever before, and you can have accurate borders."

However there are still some issues with card backs. I'm guessing it might be due to the backs not being perfectly aligned with the fronts. Customers are pleased with the cutting of fronts calling it "pixel perfect" yet the backs are still off center.

It's best to use a full bleed pattern for back which is fortunately what I've done here.
