I meant to respond earlier. I bought The Thoth Companion in England on holiday last August. I must say that I was pleasantly suprised as I didn't think that anyone could say more than DuQuette. But there you go, his writing style is entirely different and he expresses some enlightening ideas. His explanation of the symbols is almost scientific - 4 pages on "The Universe" card for example; nearly 4 pages on the "Art" card (one of my favourites).
Highly recommended.
