Trimmed Borders/Altered Decks Index

strings of life

Hi! :)

I have a couple Q's:

Do you corner the deck before or after you trim all the sides?

Do you have your own cornering tools? What are they?

Thanks for info! :)
After going through several of the corner rounders that rwcarter recommended, I upgraded to the EK Success Heavy Duty Punch: Rounder two years ago and have never looked back. I'm a regular trimmer and the plastic corner rounders would break after extensive use. It is durable and was worth the few extra dollars and rounds corners at 5mm, which is perfect.

As some of you may know, I recently received a dodgy Spanish Rohrig aka El Tarot de Rohrig. The backs were printed in all different shades of blue/purple. Anyway, I am to receive a replacement copy, so I decided to practice more trimming on this one. I also cornered the deck this time.

May I present, the "New" El Dodgy Spanish Rohrig... :)
I bought the Spanish Rohrig with the intention to do this, but never got around to it. Thanks for the reminder--it looks great!

Celtic (Davis) Trimmed + Edged in Crystal Blue

Hey Folks!

Decided to edge my Celtic (Davis) as well. Couldn't find the Tim Holtzer pens at any of the local craft stores, so I found a Chartpak, Crystal Blue, art marker at the local art supply shop. This marker smells, but it is dissipating after a night of fresh air. I like the washed out blue look with this deck, seems vintagey. :)

Have a look...

Gorgeous!

And great minds think alike, it seems. I edged mine in Tim Holtz's Tumbled Glass, which is a similar washed out blue color.... :D

I also edged El Dodgy Spanish Rohrig using a Chartpak art marker in Crystal Blue. This marker is lighter than it appears on this deck because I edged it twice and the card stock picks up color different than on the Celtic I posted.

Check it out... :)

I trimmed some of my decks, I edged some. I am happy with the most decks that I trimmed, but not all. But all the decks I edged seems an improvement.

My conclusion: you can't go wrong edging a deck! :)

I agree. It gives the deck a finished look. :)

I purchased the zombie tarot, love the pictures but somehow I couldn't get into them... so I trimmed them...drastically...

It was a challenge to get to know the cards afterwards but I enjoyed the exercice.

Today I worked on the edges. I Used Distress Ink 'iced spruce'. I wanted to give a used and cold look and...I love it :D

Those look awesome! I am getting Zombie Tarot soon because it was on super sale for a minute. With all the pips renamed I think I would have a hard time learning the deck if I trim it, but it does look tempting the way your cards turned out!

What is the brand of the pen/ink you used?

Thanks for the tip on the rounder. Yes, I decided when I met the Spanish Rohrig I would need to get a better made OOP in the future, so trimming and edging works great for this deck! :)

Dare I trim my Roerich? :bugeyed: Those blue borders are just not working for me...
