"Pimp my Rider!"

canid

I haven't tried embossing powders but it'd probably look nice. The problem is, even the thin nail polish makes the deck a lot thicker.

I did some embossing on the Saints minors. I haven't used any stamps since then. The singular problem is the high heat to set the embossing powder. Warps the cards. Try it on a cheap playing card deck card.

I haven't noticed any thickerness at all and I've used a lot of polish.
Our different results are so fun to hear about!

Vesper

My first evening with the cards and polish was not all that satisfactory.

Did someone say the polish needs to be thinned out first? Should I not be using the brush that came with the polish? I'm getting clumpy, hard to handle color on my cards.

ETA: Regardless, I bought four more glitter colors today: rust, light green, silver and gold. Although I'm not loving the results I'm getting, I really enjoy the process. It's making me really look at the card, not just the idea of the card I have in my head, but the actual card.

I used the brush that came with all the polishes. I tried using a fine paint brush before I got the stripers and it was a boogerie mess.

Eventualy some polishes will get real thick and basically unusuable. But for a little while I add nail polish remover with an eye dropper and stir it in with a thin wire.

looking forward to hearing how it's going!
It is a very nice way to really get to know a deck because you look at every single detail from various angles.

I give it a 10 on the tarot fun scale!

Open Arms

Just been down the local cheapy shop and found 75ml tubes of glitter paint - its more like a clear glue with very fine glitter in it - 8 colours - gold, silver, crystal, pink, red, blue, green and purple.

Tried pimping the Fool last night - weent a bit heavy with the glitter but ya know - I kinda like it.

Open Arms

Just pimped three cards and have to drag myself away from it or I won't get any of my work done.

I am using a mixture of nailpolish and glitter paint and I love how the Empress turned out. I used a oyster perly colour on the High priestesses pearl crown and it turned out stunning. I only hope the scans and pics will do it justice once I get around to doing them (and they dry!)

Only swish I could get brown and black glitter paints - then I would be totally happy.

Vesper

It's pretty addictive. I've discovered that I like the cards best that I spent the least amount of time on. Small dots and streaks of gold and glitters are the least gloppy and lumpy.

I find that if I don't like a swatch of polish, I can scrape it up with my thumbnail after it dries. Polish remover on the cards tends to remove the ink underneath, so I try to avoid using it on mistakes.

I will try the eyedropper of polish remover in my clumpy glitter polish. I actually have one.

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHH :D
everyone is having fun pimping & glittering! :) How lovely,

I bought a cheap pack of artists brushes & used the very fine ones., I found what worked for me was using the extra title card as a kind of pallette & blobbing a bit of the glittery nail polish on there to work from so that i didnt have to keep the bottle open, that stopped the polished from going thick & blobby :)

I need a few more colours.... will be popping to get a few more at the weekend :) some nice emerald green glitter methinks :D

Open Arms

I did another six cards today and only a headache stopped me from continuing. So far I have done the Fool - the Hermit and I am using more the glitter paint and less the nail polish, the glitter over the nail polish seems to work best.

Sighs... I wish I had a handy art shop to get some more fun stuff...

*wanders off to check out ebay*
