Deck of the Week: Sign Up Thread : Week 55: August 18th - August 25th

Chiriku

Might we ask why....?
:)

It is genuinely too complicated to get into, my friend, but the short version is that I am going to undertake a great sacrifice on behalf of someone. Funnily enough, the Hanged Man has come up for me several times this year despite its never having appeared for me before (which perhaps isn't saying much given that I don't have a history of frequent self readings).

Sweet Twilight is in my top 5 decks to read for myself with, but only because I see the "twilight" more than the sweet in it. Fairy ish, fey looking beings are far outside my tastes, but this deck is tempered by a strong current of circumspection that keeps the images from appearing to me as such. Hope you find the deck rewarding.

Joie de Vivre for me this week. Another light and fun tarot - which is what I need this week.

I would like to participate...should have a deck chosen later this afternoon. I have never participated in any of these type threads so let me know if I am doing something wrong.
Welcome toj ! :D

This sounds ominous...I hope all is well with you Chiriku.

Elendil...put me down for the Anna K this week. I've used this deck alot prior to starting the DotW, but I don't think I've used it since starting. Oh...if only my brain cells were still functional...

The next week will be a significant one in my life and deserves a heavier/more spiritual deck. As such, I will pick up the Ancestral Path (one of my pre tarot-hiatus favorites) for the first time in around ten years. It will be interesting to return to this deck now that I have forged a much closer bond with its younger (but even heavier weight) sibling, the Maat.

I have a trimmed copy of the Ancestral Path, but have never really worked with it. When I first got it I was too green and new to tarot to appreciate and understand it. I should dig it out sometime!

Also Elendil I have decided to stick with the book of shadows deck for another week please and thank you :)

I find this deck so easy to read, the little cabbage people are so expressionable! If your brain cells are having a rest this week, then it is a great deck to use! :D

Hope you are ok though desertrat

Thanks Eyebright...I am well. Just lamenting my swiss cheese memory. :D

Haha...cabbage people! The deck does make me smile.

I've been back and forth on whether to stick with Anna K for a second week, but I really want to try out another deck. So please put me down for the Morgan Greer. I need something easy and uncomplicated this week (which is partly why I strongly considered sticking with the Anna K!). Even though I'm new to the Morgan Greer (haven't even shuffled it yet!), I can tell it will be easy to read with, the pictures are uplifting, etc. Exactly what I need this week.

Btw, I've got some newbie questions. I'm wondering, even though we commit to working exclusively with one deck for the week, if it's okay to "cheat" if we're doing a certain reading circle? I'm doing the Dark Deck Truths reading circle, for which I plan on reading with my Dark Fairytale deck, but I don't want it to be my deck of the week. Am I a cheat? lol

Also wanted to ask if working exclusively with one decks means you don't study others? I've been slowly researching a deck, looking up symbolism, etc., but I don't actually read with the deck. Is that cheating?

I know this is for fun and I'm probably overthinking it, but that's who I am. I was always the kid who followed the rules down to the letter. Still am, lol!

Feel free to cheat away!!! :D We don't have to be exclusive. The goal is to play with the deck you choose for the week enough to get an idea about whether you click with it or not. (Ok...I don't like the way I worded that sentence at all! Stupid brain cells.) You can play the field to your heart's content.
