Trimmed Borders/Altered Decks Index

cpriestess

I have used both a cutters with the plastic where you can line up the cards and a scissors on my decks. I find that I actually have less mistakes when I free hand trim my decks with a scissors. I have more control, I feel, with the scissors. The main problem I feel with those guillotine cutters is the card cannot move while you are cutting it and sometimes it will move or I don't have it quite lined up. Also, some of the cutters make the edge of the card stock kind of funny. At least with a scissors, I can go back over the card and sliver pieces of cardstock off. I also love my corner rounder. I highly recommend you get one of those. I especially like the ones that trap the corner pieces. :) Hope this feedback helps

Witches Tarot Ellen Dugan

I just purchased the Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan. I really, really love it, but feel it would be better for readings if I trimmed the black side and top borders of the cards, leaving the title of the bottom. Has anyone trimmed this deck? If yes, can you please post some photos? Thank You so much! :)

I use very good, sharp scissors. It's important to have good light and a steady hand - let them rest on the table. I also take off the top and bottom borders to make the long sides easier to cut off.

I'm extremely happy with my trimmed decks. No regrets so far.

Autumn Spice

I have some decks I want to trim and edge treat. I bought a black marker and an ink pad.

What size corner rounder do you use? That's the only thing I'm not sure about yet.

Some people swear by a 3mm corner rounder. It's probably subtler. But I have found that a 5mm one is easier to find, much cheaper and basically all you'll ever need.

If you want to keep the corners intact (like with the Thoth, or some Marseille historic reproductions), fine grit sandpaper will blunt the edges without losing the square corner look.

Thank you so much. I'm going to the craft store in a few hours to get a corner rounder. :)

I have another question for you all.

Is this thread for all decks you trim or edge treat? Or should I post Oracles in the Oracle section and Lenormand in that section. Would they be moved?

ETA:
I just looked at the first page and found the oracle and Lenormand links.

Universal Fantasy trimmed

I have been playing with UF a lot lately so I thought I´d post a picture. I love the size of it now.

No one thought to trim the Medieval Chihuahua tarot? My hands are itching to trim the cards :) but I really love that deck and I'm afraid how it'll turn out. Couldn't find any picture of a trimmed MChihuahua deck.
