Llewellyn's new card stock

Le Fanu

Whichever printer they used for Victoria Regina, that card stock is GORGEOUS! Hope they can bring that back.
On the bottom of my box for the VR it says "cards printed in Belgium, book printed in the USA". May well be the same printer as AG Muller. Certainly feels of that same quality.

Yeah, they all need to go back to that printer in Belgium. They know what they're doing over there.

I have the first printings of the Gilded and the Llewellyn Tarot - I'd need to check where these were printed but they have that same smooth, silky, resilient quality. I guess early 2000's they were using good cardstock.

Since LoScar got brought into the mix with this topic, I compared my 1998 Secret Tarot with their newer decks Tarot of Pirates, Ludy Lescot etc., and the Secret Tarot card stock was noticeable more substantial, so their stock quality over 20 years has gone down too, but not to the same degree as Llewellyn. Also, if they make up for it with premium editions of better stock that's a solution. For me, I would rather pay $25 over $15 for a better product. The Secret Tarot from 1998 is ideal quality. So beautiful. I'll be interested to see how this Santa Muerte premium edition compares to all the decks discussed here.

The LoS premium decks I have ARE on better stock - basically, thicker and kind of luxurious.

This one
, for instance.

(hope that links) - I attach a pic of the box - quite different to the regular one.

This is good to know. I have older LoScar decks, but not premium editions, so I'm looking forward to checking out the Santa Muerte one I ordered. Seems they only release premium editions for some decks?

We need a tarot time machine to go back 20 years. 😊🤓 The LoScar Secret Tarot has that same feel, so it must be a process as opposed to a particular printer because I assume LoScar always prints their own decks. This Secret Tarot 1998 is similar to my vintage Rider printed by AGM, which is similar to the Victoria Regina. All ideal quality.

Llewellyn is publishing my deck and it's officially released in May. I just received a few promo copies of the deck and I'm really happy with the card quality. I admittedly don't really have any other Llewellyn decks to compare it to at the moment, my stash is quite small and mostly self published decks. The cardstock is on the thinner side, but it's not paper thin. It is very smooth and shuffles beautifully. I riffle shuffle and I've only had the deck a few days but so far they look as good as when I first opened the box.

Keep in mind that I dislike thicker cardstock because it just isn't usable for me, so this is exactly what I was hoping for with my deck.

If you weren't happy with it would they change the cardstock? I ask because this may account for the difference in cardstock from newer Llewellyn releases we discussed upthread and the question of whether or not they have "new" cardstock across the board.

I had no say in the cardstock quality. They also never asked what I preferred it was simply a coincidence that I loved the quality that they chose. I assume that when they have a cardstock change that it's across the board with the new decks.

Thanks, that's good to know. Doesn't seem that way because yours has the thin stock and we were referring to the Linestrider which has the cardboard like stock.
