I Am One

HuskyChariot

Hi All :D

I tried searching for an old thread on the above deck but the words are too common to produce results.

I just received it in a trade and I would love to hear from anyone who owns it/enjoys it/has an opinion on it.

I did a 3 card spread with it last night, without even looking through the cards ( I never do that) and I get the impression that there is a depth that might take some study to access. I found the language in the LWB quite odd and the phrases on the cards themselves a little distracting. But despite all this I think I like it...

Can anyone point me to an old thread or provide new insight?

Much appreciated

I have this deck, and also the deck on which it is based, 'T: The New Tarot for the Aquarian Age':

As can be seen from his review, K. Frank Jensen is scathing about it. The artist Maya Britan claimed to have been contacted by Rosalind Sharpe, who was involved in the creation of the original, but Jensen seems sceptical.

Here is a link to the channelled material upon which the original was based:

The artist has her own site here, with quite a lot of information:
http://www.iamonetarot.com/

She claims that the Tarot originated in Egypt. I quite like the images, although I am not convinced by her theories regarding the Tarot's origin.

The 'I Am One' deck is the only Tarot since that is based upon 'T: The New Tarot for the Aquarian Age'. Maya Britan claims that it is a spiritual successor, inspired from the same source.

It was one of my early purchases, it cost me a lot to get it into the UK and I had high hopes.

I never liked it and couldn't get to grips with what it was on about: eventually I traded it away and felt a sense of relief.

However, I know that it is highly thought of so there will be people who think it's the best thing since sliced bread etc.

I bought it ages ago as I liked the colours I saw on the scans.... however on actually getting it I found it weird & alien-like and just couldn't take to it at all.. It's sitting in my cupboard not being used....

Thanks everyone. It does seem to have a chequered past, I'm not sure I agree that its predecessor was not mentioned in the LWB. Also, the Egyptian history doesn't gel with me. The Tarot Passages comparison was interesting, thanks Patrick. I think I'll persevere with this one regardless, not sure why, guess I'll find out... or trade it! :D

Ah yes I recall this deck. At the time Maya gave this spin that she was encouraged to create it through divine intervention. She made no credit nor mention to the original deck (The New Tarot For the Aquarian Age) that she had obviously used to create hers. It was a very heavy marketing campaign of hers and she created this amazing story about it.

At the time just before the launch of the deck she and I were in communication and I brought her to this forum where she continued with her charade and many of us purchased her deck based on it's so-called background. We then discovered the truth and upon confronting her at the time suddenly received no reply and she stopped communicating with all of us.

I wish I could find that original thread on here.

I have the prototype of the original T - called Communify - together with some letters from Cooke's wife, after he died.... it was hoped at that time to put it out as a game by that name. It's on A4 sheets of card in black and white. Quite strange.

I don't buy Maya's story - but I quite like her deck as a stand alone.

MM - is this old thread the one ?

ETA and here's another.
