Marseilles Seekers Thread (Third Exercise)

Hooked on TdM

Epee (swords.) Question: What question is this person living right now?

1. Holding up pole for all to see.
2. Carefully balancing second pole across first.
3. Sliding third pole beneath first two.
4. Interweaving four poles for a connected center.
5. Sliding fifth pole beneath the first four.
6. Interweaving six poles for a broader base.
7. Sliding a seventh pole beneath the six.
8. Interweaving eight poles for stabilization.
9. Adding ninth pole beneath the eight.
10. Adding and connecting a tenth the to the ninth for expansion and duality.

What I found interesting here was this could be a skill set being built, knowledge, education, accomplishments. It has a definite stabilize then add pattern that consistently returns to adding to the base before building upwards.

My last suit! Whew.

Cups: Where is the good in this person's situation?

1. A vessel ready to be filled.
2. First filling expands and creates second vessel of equal value.
3. Second filling expands and creates third vessel.
4. Third filling expands and creates fourth vessel of equal value.
5. Fourth filling expands and creates fifth vessel.
6. Fifth filling expands and creates sixth vessel of equal value.
7. Sixth filling expands and creates seventh vessel.
8. Seventh filling expands and creates eighth vessel of equal value.
9. Eighth filling expands and creates ninth vessel.
10. Ninth filling expands and creates tenth vessel which then flows back into the previous nine vessels.

I love the pattern this creates. It takes a step back and a step forward with each one in sequence. I can see how this could be emotions, experiences, thoughts, just about anything that just builds upon itself. It's very beautiful and peaceful.

Hooked,

Your exercises are indeed beautiful. You will see now how this training will pay off in the fifth exercise.

I am glad you noticed the patterns. It is always good to understand a single card without losing a sense of where does it belongs in the series. That is how, for example, if we are looking at the V of Couppes, we will know that the fifth cup is that one in the center of the cards and not any other one. This understanding in itself provides enough narrative elements for us to see a story or event evolving.

Thanks for sharing your exercises with us!

Best,

EE

I've just noticed I've done it the wrong way round; I've done the individual cards but not looked at the suits themselves as a whole.. I wouldn't mind, but I did copy the exercise out first . I'll look at the suits tomorrow, but here is what I ended up with for the pips.

4 Batons : Railway Track junctions - crossed lines; Scissors, chopping a flower in half
7 Batons: A shield, held up by a long handle; Catherine wheel nailed to a post
8 Coins: Couples in a formal 18th century dance; Dining table, set for 8
Ace Cups : Howl's Castle, on a cup; Something squashed under the castle, oozing out
6 Coins : Vine "cups" holding coins safely; Couples excluding the single people
6 Batons : 5 bar gates to field entrances; Flyover on the motorway
3 Coins : Song - One is one is all alone, and ever more shall be so; Eyes and a mouth
10 Coins : Country house gardens - very formal
Ace batons : Odd shaped leg of lamb; Sperm, going the wrong way!
4 Cups : Bus shelters; Poking a tongue out
4 Swords : Yoni, with a flower at the centre; Complicated roadways/train tracks
7 Swords : Two big frowns, angry at the flower; Belt round a plump tummy, nice buckle
6 Cups : Shaman's staff; Factory conveyor belt
Ace Coins : Shy lovers, turning away from each other; Looking down on a wedding cake
Two Coins : Fastening - press studs, looped together; Snake, offering a flower
Ace swords : Blood, dripping from a severed vein
10 Swords : Steps - walkways, fenced off areas; Seating tiers in an outdoor theatre
7 Swords : Swinging pendulum
4 Coins: Baby bird mouths; gaping Big owl eyes staring
9 batons: Gandalf - the way is barred
9 Swords: Angry face
9 Cups: Confusion, too many people at the party; weapons hidden in the crowds
10 Swords : Safety, guarded, security
9 Cups : Together but apart; Basketball
6 Swords : Photo in a frame; Solo performer on stage
2 Batons : Village bisected by cross-roads
5 Cups : Belle of the ball
7 Coins : Man trying to keep too many balls in the air
8 Batons : Enforced separation
2 Cups : Dessert for two, shared
5 Batons : Men with twirly mustaches
8 cups : Wise old face - the Green Man
3 Batons : Sleeping back to back, on your own side of the bed.
5 coins : Indecision
3 Swords : Bat'leths; Prising a door open
3 cups : Forcing a way in; A lady's hand mirror
7 Cups : Progression, one to the next; Deer antlers
2 Swords : Seats around a central table
5 Swords : A big eye - Sauron!
10 Cups : Bigger and better! Might is right!

Also, I like what Satori did - go through each and look for a response to the question "What have I lost?" I'm not sure I'll use that question, but I definitely want to go through the pips asking my question.

Wendywu

Looking at the cards separated out into heaps of coins, cups etc. - impressions for the suits overall:

Batons:
Drum majorette staffs, train tracks, barred gates, basketry-work, bat'leths, futuristic irising doors, those tubes in shops that shoot about with money in, target practice

Coupes: Doorknobs, Light pull acorn thingies, gear sticks in a car, switches, sockets, eyes on stalks, joystick controllers, lampshade bases, flower vases, stampers for paper, pencil toppers, teddy bear eyes, dalek antennae (Dr. Who),

Epees:
Smiles and frowns, amphitheatre, pendulum, tooth pick, bicycle spokes, eyes, window blinds pulled apart, skipping ropes in the playground - two girls turning, one flower jumping; big mouth smiling, doorways, yonis,

Coins: Faces! dinner plates, top-down view of lego blocks, library books on shelves, vending machines with drinks cans, people dancing, seats round a meeting table, sockets, teeth in rows - top and bottom set, belt buckle, buttons, traffic lights, roundels on aircraft (RAF), wheels, pin badges, top view of three tier cake, top view of a flower in a pot.

I found swords and batons the most difficult - so much sameness from one to the other.

Tomorrow I'll do the 40 pips all replying to "What makes me happy?" That'll be fun - to think of so many happy things :)

Wendywu

And finally! Asked all the suit cards "What makes you happy" - and the answers weren't at all what I expected. I enjoyed letting my eyes see whatever they wanted to, not directing them or putting any sort of check on them.

6 Epees.....................Water! I'm a cut flower. Give me water or I'll die!
9 Coupes ..................A decent indexing system

4 Epees......................Seeing beauty wherever I look
8 Epees......................Putting on a good show

I found cups and deniers much easier than batons and epees where I had to stare, de-focus and almost disassociate to be able to "let go" enough to get anything coherent.

Interesting!
