Morgan Greer Tarot

La Force

I got a call from a friend that works at a second hand store, notifying me that some Tarot stuff was there. I picked it all up, lol.

The Morgan Greer Tarot deck was one of them. Also a book Intuitive Tarot, by Richard Prosapio. Which covers the Morgan Greer Tarot.

This is a gorgeous deck, love the coloring, bold, intense, vibrant.

My question where do I find information on the colors used for this deck?

I have searched the forum, found lots of threads, but not what I was looking for. These threads mentioned that the deck follows Paul Foster Case color symbolism. I searched google, to no avail. I even went through all the study group threads.

Would someone please either post up the color meanings, or direct me to a website that has the details for this deck.

I don't know if it's anywhere online, but it's def in the book: The Tarot by Paul Foster Case.

Apollonia

One book I know of that works with the Morgan Greer, along with the Rider Waite, and Aquarian, is Spiritual Tarot by Signe Echols et al. I see that it is still in print. It does cover color symbolism.

You are so enabling me with this. I've gone back and forth about the Morgan Greer, but, darn it, I have that book by PFC, I'm reading it right now. Maybe I'll give Morgan Greer another look. Again.

The Morgan-Greer was my first "real" deck after a false start with the Wirth. The book I had the time, Step-by-Step Tarot by Terry Donaldson used images from it, and I found it a very, very good book. I'm surprised this book isn't mentioned more often, I think it's wonderful and would still recommend it twenty years later. While it does discuss the images themselves, though, it still isn't specific either to the Morgan-Greer or to its colors.

Although I've had it for so long, I never had done a comparison between it and Case's colors in his book The Tarot: A Key to the Wisdom of the Ages but maybe it's time I did. I have no time to do it, but if someone were to take the initiative to start a study group, I would certainly participate (hopefully). Since it is a unique deck that made an actual effort to follow Case's attributions, I think it would be highly worthwhile to get the information from the horse's mouth rather than another book (like the Spiritual book someone recommended) which probably isn't specific to it, especially since Case doesn't always follow the Golden Dawn color scales. Now, in addition, coloring instructions for Case's own deck, the Builders of the Adytum (sp?) can be found here and it's as good as anything to start from. I don't know how precise Bill Greer was in creating the deck, but the instructions for the BOTA are Case's own, so there is that.

And the best card in this deck is its Devil, positively reeking of kitsch, but so Hammer horror! Oh, and some of the men have 70s-style porn moustaches that I found distracting at first, but learned to live with. A really wonderful deck, a classic that has proven staying power, and I'm really not someone who normally gushes.

I have experience with Case's coloring, but I ain't got no Morgan Greer. Maybe I can find a cheapie somewhere.

I spent alll day with this deck, I am so currently impressed with it, love that fact that it doent have all Waites symbolism over kill splashed across the cards. Love the bare bones of each card. As I have always said, "less is best".

My deck came with the Devil card missing. The pervious owner either hated the card or lost it. But hey for $ 3.00, I'm not complaining, I can live without the Devil card, on the bright side, I don't have to worry about materialism, bad habits, sex addicts, over indulgence, negative influences, etc. Showing up in my reading now. Lol. Ohh but the still could show up in a minor form throught the minor arcana cards, lol.

The study group has been dead for years, and its incomplete, I would be interested in participating as well. Would like a bunch of us to join the group though. :)

Thanks for the book recommandation, I will look into tomorrow.
