skill of hand-career

ramin

I had a reading from a reader about 6 years back and she was accurate to the point that it got scary. Her predictions(all except one came true in last 5 years)
First thing she brought up was my career as skill of hand(I am in dentistry).
I am very new to tarot and have been learning tarot for about a month. I couldn't find a card which would suggest skill of hand. Can anyone suggest which card describes skill of hand. thanks

Sounds as though she was fishing for statements to make that would be broad-based. A musician has skill of hand, as does a wood carver, a builder, a prostitute, a painter, the other kind of painter, a sewer, a casino shuffler (whatever they are called), a conjurer, a tapestry-maker, a sculptor, a furniture restorer, a panel-beater, a circuit-board welder, a blacksmith, a wood-turner, a candlemaker, a torturer, and a butcher.

A dentist, I would have thought, was one of the healing professions. Nothing about "skill of hand" makes me immediately think of dentistry, whilst if he had said "healer", then "dentist" might have occurred to me.

Any of the Pentacles Minor Arcana indicate the kind of practicality in keeping with being good with one's hands, especially the Ace, three, seven, eight, Knight, Queen and King.

Skill of hand I would think 8 pents and 3 pents, if you were looking for master of the craft then maybe the Queen and King pents, ofcourse this is very broad.

8 pents as he doing the fine detailed work.

A dentist needs good "hand skills", as dentistry is not about healing but repairing and fixing.

Sealing holes, cleaning, whitening, putting on crowns, pulling out teeth etc. A dentist is not a healer. A dentist doesn't heal teeth he/she repairs them.

canid

The Magician is all about manual dexterity.

Holes in teeth or cracked teeth will lead to rotten teeth. Rotten teeth will lead to abscesses, systemic infection, even cardiac problems, septicaemia, gangrene and death.

Halting that process with dentistry is not healing how?

The dentist's primary concern is sealing the hole, a dentist is not a doctor.

I would agree with canid (as Magician was the first card that came to my mind here, as well....and the Magician also makes one think of having/needing specific technical or technological skills, which would also fit with dentistry.) But, as nisaba said, there are MANY professions that require manual dexterity. Almost any manual labor job requires "skill of hand," so, that is a pretty wide umbrella that would cover probably more than half of all the professions in the world. :) Therefore, unless the reader specified detailed manual skills in the health care profession, or something like that, just this description alone wouldn't make me sit up and take special notice of a reader's "accuracy," either.

Also, Ramin did not claim to be a dentist, but could be a dental technician or hygienist...and this, again, is yet another career that requires manual skills.

Just saying...

But, yeah, the Magician has and uses manual skills a lot...

A dentist or at least mine is very skilled at hand, he molded a temporary front tooth that looks better than the so called perminate one that broke, and it is still holding. That is pretty skilled. I would have to agree with the 8 of Pentacles or the 3 of Pentalces for a card for skilled at hand.
