there is a reason why we hardly ever see any late night psychic hotline infomercials in the united states anymore. people just don't trust those psychic clowns over the phone. heck, dionne warwick used to host the psychic friends hotline infomericals, and her stable of psychics couldn't stop her from being name the top 250 delinquent taxpayers in the state of california or being busted for drug possession in florida.
i definitely would not say this is a good place for someone to start off. reading at your local coffee shop might actually be a better starting point. although it might sound vulgar, but i think using with the psychic phone line as a stepping stone into the professional psychic industry is even far off the base than working at the telephone sex line to get into the porn and sex industry.

I am not sure if they to have the same bad reputation. I am in Australia by the way.

I picture working a psychic phone line being like working in a call centre doing telemarketing -- soul sucking.

I think it depends, not all psychic or tarot lines are like that. You won't know if it is for you or not if you don't try it. Sure it isn't like sitting face to face with someone, but neither is doing email readings or readings online.

I honestly don't know, I've never worked on a psychic phone line (I can't do readings over the phone with a 21 month old in the background lol). I suggest just doing a search online, look for some forums that deal with that and I believe LIve Person is a site that does psychic/tarot and other kinds of things where you can charge people for your reading. From my understanding there, it isn't hard to get on that site, but you need to work to build up a clientel.

Several years ago there was a show, it might have been 20/20 or something similiar, the readers they interviewed admitted that they never read cards in their lives, THEY ALL worked from a guide sheet (sent in the mail in a packet) explaining the meanings of the cards, just like a lwb, the main thing was to keep the sitter on the line for a certian period of time, I think it was a minimum of 15 minutes, and it didn't really matter what they said as long as it sounded good, they all worked from their homes, they had a special phone line set up for work and you never could get the same person again if you wanted to, it was all random. You as the reader would never know if the reading was helpful or not. The worst is they were only getting a very small portion of the money taken in.
There's nothing wrong with doing readings over the phone, I've done tons, but I'll be damned if someone else is going to profit off my readings other than me
I'm sure not all are like that, I guess it wouldn't hurt to check into them, get all the facts and see if it's something you can benefit from. I suppose we all have to start somewhere but if your looking to build a clientele I think online would be the way to go, that way the sitter can come back and find you for another reading, then word of mouth gets around and you can start building.
