types of crystal balls

I am still just starting to learn Scrying with crystal balls. And here is what I was wondering.

What types of crystal balls do you find easiest to read with. What colours, what size, specific types of crystals and most importantly (what I was most wondering) was if you find it easier to scry with clear balls or the ones with veils and occlusions. And why.

I am still working this out in my mind, especially the last part about veils and occlusions. And I think hearing which kinds read best for others and why would help.

Oooo! I have been wondering the exact same thing!

I started trying to scry with light colors, translucent to transparent, etc. but had no success. I was then recently told that I need to stop looking inside of it and expecting to visually see anything with my eyes.

I ended up with a black mirror - (paint back of mirror black, or put water in a black mug/bowl) and have had a lot more success. Not big success... but I've started my journey =) Instead of focusing inside of it, or at a certain point, I let my eyes go fuzzy, and the dark depths were just sort of a background. Then things started coming into my mind's eye... ! I really felt that the darkness helped me to not focus so much on the 'physical inside' and more on the 'fuzzy background' to let my mind's eye do the coloring in.

For me this is what I am finding out from my experience.

I am finding that the right size for me personally is 3 1/2 to 4" (which is about 70 to 80mm)
I like to hold the ball in my hand when Scrying. I learnt that here on AT and it's what I like to do. So I don't want something too heavy, But I do want a big enough viewing area. So that to me translates to that size. Also more than that is EXPENSIVE! LOL


I also find the transparent pale colour ones are header to read with. Which is funny as well you see one on TV or in a movie that is the kind they always show.


My first was a dark royal blue. The thing for me is to not see your own reflection so clearly that it gets distracting. Also clearer balls with no veils of inclusions seem to show that reflection more.

But for the I am still undecided about the clear balls or the ones with veils and occlusions, about which I prefer.

A clearer ball gives is more like a movie screen, There is nothing on it just a pure clear field of vision where you can see anything at all. It's a blank that can show you anything at all. That feels freeing to me, just unlimited potential.

While the balls with the cracks and shapes inside form shapes which can remind you of things and get your imagination rolling. To me imagination is intricately connected to intuition, which is what I am trying to connect with,

So I don't know for sure....the clear screen with all unlimited potential, or the screen with preset shapes in it that give you hints?

Also, I find there are less reflections in the balls with veils and occustions. But I am not sure if that is better or worse. Sometimes seeing my reflection feels distracting.


But sometimes it literally become part of the message. Eg if I am seeing my lips and then I see a heart shape over them it can tell me that I need to talk to someone about my love. Maybe I need to tell them again that I love them and they need to hear it from me. So my reflection at times becomes literally a part of the message,

OR sometimes it is easier if I don't see my reflection and let the shapes in an occluded ball speak to me. I have 5 now of different kinds, maybe I will use different ones for different purposes. Although two seem to be a size that I find too small for my tastes, even though they do work too.


So I am hoping to hear also what others think of that. And thank you peaceewing for sharing.

And yes, that is how I learnt it too. You are not supposed to try to look inside the ball. But to look at the ball and then unfocus your eyes. To look at it with unfocused eyes.

Wow! Each and every one of them is so very beautiful!

That brings up a third choice that I had not yet really considered. How do the balls that you can't see into, the opaque ones, work in Scrying for people?

I am glad you said that your favorite is the clear quartz with the phantom and veining. That was fun to hear as I just gone one of those a few days ago and am about to try it for the first time, maybe today.

What is it about that one that makes it read best for you, or your favourite?

Here are mine, so far. LOL

That was my first and well loved for that reason.

Then I got two more which I found too small for me at 2" each, they work, but make it harder for me.

and

(that one is selenite, which I have always loved.

Then more recently, within the last week, I got these two:

(which is citrine. Looks like gold dust running through it. )

And

(which is quartz crystal, but not actually quite that cloudy, that was a few minutes after I got it. The mailman had left it outdoors for 5 days when we were away for the holidays. Found it there when I got back and it was foggy still from the cold.LOL)
