Deck of the Week : Sign-up Thread: Week 266 : September 3 - September 9

Hey csmith0406, if you like tattoo art, you might check out the Bonefire Tarot:

It was originally self-published, but now Schiffer is about to pick it up:

Great recommendation! I already have the mass market one on pre-order. ;) I also have the dark carnival, which I'll pick soon for the deck of the week, but next week I'm thinking I'll go a little more traditional, Anna K or Tarot Mucha.

I'm loving the idea of DotW, I'm learning so much about Tarot and myself as a reader.

This week it's my new Victorian Fairy Tarot deck.

Tarot of Vampyres, again!

Thanks :).
Also adding Place's Vampire Tarot since I'm re-reading Bram Stoker's Dracula for the I-don't-know-how-many-times-I-have-read-it-time ;).

Also a trimmed deck. And both are so much better trimmed.

Really enjoying my Les Vampires/ Halloween Oracle mash-up deck. I tend to truggle with the narrowness of 45 card oracle decks so always get on better with Blue Angel combo decks. Both of these are stunning and work really well together visually.

Have basically thrown the books out the window and am working with the keywrds and intuitively. Feel I should try going by the book for the first few times I read with something but happy to wing it once I've given them a chance.

The Burning Heart Tarot is truly beautiful but we haven't bonded yet so am having more fun on the oracle side at the moment. Seems to take me longer to bond with humungous decks because I can't sit casually shuffling them like with a dinky Llewellyn affair. The BHT is almost as wide as an oracle deck and even longer :bugeyed: Great for the artwork but quite the ordeal to shuffle. We'll get there but it's gonna take a little longer with less hands on interaction.

Oooh, would love to hear how you get on with Dreams of Gaia. Am managing to wait till it comes out here... just about :D

Finally picked my oracle for the week... sort of. Couldn't choose between them so using a combined mega deck of The Halloween Oracle & Les Vampires Oracle.

Here are two posts of mine talking about the Dreams of Gaia.

All in all it's become more of a personal deck for me than one to use with readings with others. Maybe I'm greedy like that :D But it also has to do with the fact I need to keep the accompaniment book nearby and when it comes to reading for others I like to use my own skills and intuition to guide the reading. It's also a very spiritual deck though not any one spirituality so I enjoy taking the cards out and giving small personal readings before bed, letting my intuition roam alongside what I get from the book.

This week it's my new Victorian Fairy Tarot deck.

Oooh, my first, favorite, and best reading deck! I'd love to know what you think of it, and I'd be happy to chat with you about it if you want. :)

...I have not been able to work with my Rohrig Tarot as much as I was hoping....

....but I have made it a point to grab it and sit down...making is a priority...though it may be for on 5 minutes...

...I shall see what I can do with it today...

I know I'll love it if only because I adore all her artwork :) but it's great to hear how you're working with it so I can get a head start on how to tackle it. Looks like it'll be one I need to spend a good month getting to know. I think it could be really good for me though. Have noticed myself getting more and more into the trap of wanting quickfire answers instead of really sitting and meditating on the cards like I used to when starting out. A whole new system with stunning artwork that draws you in should really help force me to slow down and pay attention.

Have enjoyed my week with the Burning Heart Tarot but very suddenly felt ready to move on this afternoon. Going with something really comforting, familiar and fun for next week as am working, um... all of the days. Ugh.
