I'm much more in the camp of "when this happens..." than preset days/months/years, etc. Pentacles are the slowest-moving suit, yes, but they don't always represent an irritatingly long wait.
Example: I once asked when I would next hear from someone and got the 10 of Pentacles. Obviously this person wasn't going to wait 10 years to call me, and it was the middle of summer so "next winter" didn't fit either, and even the astrological associations (Virgo, mid-to-late September) were too far out to be a realistic time frame. Well, I ended up getting a big bonus at work that week and I heard back from that person within a day or 2 after. So, I would definitely take into account what's happening in the card itself.
