What artist would you want to create a tarot deck?

I wonder what kind of deck Geof Darrow would come up with. His technical, detailed black and white drawings for the Matrix world are unbelievable. Of course, I doubt I would care for that exact approach to be used for a tarot deck. Too sterile and cold, for my taste. Definately not the style used for the Whimisical tarot :)

However, I think Darrow (maybe even in collaboration with someone else since he seems to work well with other people in terms of being able to pick their brains and sucessfully transfer their crazy ideas onto paper) could come up with something very unique. He definately would have the skill to be able to completely fill up the cards with a ton of symbols and images. They'd be ones that you could spend hours looking at trying to take all the details in and seeing new things every time you looked at them. Then again, maybe he would choose to take a entirely different approach. You never know :)

According to Google, it was Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin.

I would buy an Arthur Rackham Tarot in a second!

A tarot deck by John Howe would be really nice, but I have to confess to a bias; he and I were at school together. Having met Alan Lee, as well as enjoyed his works, I wouldn't need any persuasion there.

Looking back in time, I wonder that no one has done either a Michelangelo tarot nor one based on the works of Raphael.

There are so many others...

Having three young girls and attending many a fairy tea party and aquiring many, many fairy drawings on our art-wall, I have just learnt all about Linda Ravenscroft. I want to draw like her.

I'd very much like a deck by Ralph Steadman. For a second choice, a deck by Robert Crumb, with Mr. Natural as The Hermit.

I'd absolutely die if Tsutomu Nihei would create a tarot deck. His art is amazing - if you've never heard of him, he's the creator of the manga Blame!, which was published in Japanese and French a few years back, and has only just now started to be translated into English.

Do a Google Image search for Tsutomu Nihei for some of his art.

I would love to see a deck by or inspired by Rene Margritte a Belgian Surrealist Painter, 1898-1967 (like they did for Klimt - hint hint Riccardo.....)

Magritte, or Dali. Although I think Dali did do a deck, didn't he?

Actually, now that I think about it he did. I wanted to get it for my girlfriend - she's a huge art nerd. =P

I would like an artist called Ursula Vernon to create a tarot deck.
She did actually create a few of the Tarot cards using her wombat character:

Strength
The Hanged Man
Page of Swords
Page of Wands
The Fool
The Hermit

Although I would like her to do an Anthromorphic style deck I would like the colours to have more depth than the cards she has already done.
