exclusivity
Hi Tali,
I have to say that I personally feel mislead by your saying you were never under the impression that you had an exclusive license. My impression, as a customer who bought several copies of the deck, was that you did have, and that is one of the reasons I did buy your decks. Of course my impression may be mistaken, but I just googled "original lenormand exclusive" and found the wording in various places, but clearly put in the pdf of your LWB: "The cards themselves have been licensed exclusively to Tarot Professionals for publication as a deck, “The Original Lenormand” in a limited edition of 250 copies. These will be published June‐July 2012." And it's echoed in many of the reviews. I understand if you were mistaken, or if, perhaps, you were using the term loosely or incorrectly, but then I still feel, as a customer, that you should take responsibility for that before trying to malign another vendor who clearly may have paid for a license from the BM. I do also understand that when you called to check with the BM on her license, you may have been misinformed. However, to accuse her of using Ciro's work before simply putting one of her decks side by side with yours, when it seems to me that you've already clearly been mistaken or misinformed as to exclusivity, seems especially unfairly presumptuous.
I don't know this vendor personally, and have no reason to speak up for her, but she's an ebay vendor from whom I bought an unrelated used deck that arrived promptly, and while I've not ordered one of her new decks yet, I corresponded with her to ask whether she had a license and why she's produced another version of the Game of Hope deck and she responded to my satisfaction. I didn't ask for her to show me her license, of course, but I have no reason not to believe she has one.
Regards,
auntie
