I don't have a fixed meanings for the cards, so I go by what I see in the picture. But I am such a LOTR geek I often know immediately from what part of the story it is and that influences the way I read it.
*cough* Bumping this thread up *jaw drops* YOU are all sooooo Amazing... *cough* Elven, Chronata, Pumpkin and alll you others... its really great to see this sort of stuff.... Has anyone done anything else lately?
I've been working on the tree cards. I go through the cards and research the myths, growing habits, unique properties, etc. of each tree, then come up with a meaning based on the information I gather. It's a good way to learn and create an oracle. I haven't finished the tree one yet - got sidetracked by a new grandbaby! I hope to eventually create an oracle using all the sets I have.
I really want to make a Tarot or Oracle out of my Harry Potter Trading cards. (I have soooo many!) I have been putting it off until the series is over though. The downside is that they stop producing the cards several years ago so many characters/events don't have cards.
Bodhran...I have used your lithomancy ideas for one of my own sets!
It's fabulous!
Glass Owl...the harry Potter oracle...using trading cards! What a genius idea!
i have been thinking about making my own HP oracle, because i will be doing a Harry Potter event...and thought it might be cool!
I was going to make a general World oracle though...one that Harry or his friends might find in the library at Hogwarts...that doesn't name specific people from Harry's time...(except maybe Dumbledore...because he's famous) but rather historic figures...like the Hogwarts founders...and general things like beasts and objects!
I just don't know if I will finish it in time!
Chronata,
I think you have singlehandedly been the greatest inspiration to others here at AT for making their own oracles, including me!
Please let us know if you make the Harry Potter/Hogwarts Oracle for your event. I'm sure it will be fantastic. I can just envision it now... A suit for magical tools (herbs, wands, etc.), a suit for magical beasts, a suit for the great masters of magic, and ...
While clearing out our desks, my husband and I both came across some postcards from various Southwest locations ~ Thus was born My Southwest Postcard Oracle
Lithomancy sets
Dreamstone Oracle
Crowstones
The HP Wizarding World Oracle
Still in Progress:
Pieces of Eight Oracle
That Strange Little Oracle Deck (Working title!)
The Augury Pack (Bird Oracle)
The Deity Oracle deck
Most of these I have kept to myself, because they aren't quite where I want them to be! For some reason it's easier for me to make oracles out of "stuff", then it is to draw them as cards.
Pieces of Eight is a tile based oracle that I am working on with my spouse, and the Augury oracle is something I started about three years ago...and only drew a single card...
Chronata, your really amaze me! Your work is stunning and i the harry potter oracle, its such a shame you can't get them published... maybe we should all email J.K. Rowling ?
